Full job description

UI/UX Designer Intern, you will gain practical experience in designing meaningful, accessible, and engaging digital experiences. Working alongside experienced designers, product managers, and developers, you will contribute to creating user-centered interfaces for web and mobile applications while developing your skills in research, design thinking, and visual design.

This internship is ideal for a recent graduate or aspiring designer looking to build a career in UX/UI design while contributing to products that create positive social impact across Africa.

Key Responsibilities1. UI/UX Design Support

  • Assist in designing user interfaces for web and mobile applications.
  • Create wireframes, user flows, mockups, and interactive prototypes under guidance from senior team members.
  • Support the development of visual assets and interface components.
  • Apply basic design principles, including typography, colour, spacing, and layout consistency.

2. User Research & Insights

  • Participate in user research activities, surveys, interviews, and usability testing sessions.
  • Help document user feedback and identify usability challenges.
  • Assist in translating user insights into design improvements.
  • Contribute to understanding user needs, behaviours, and pain points.

3. Collaboration & Team Participation

  • Work closely with designers, developers, and product teams to support ongoing projects.
  • Participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and team meetings.
  • Communicate design ideas and concepts effectively to team members.
  • Receive and implement feedback from mentors and stakeholders.

4. Design Systems & Documentation

  • Assist in maintaining design systems, component libraries, and style guides.
  • Organize design files and ensure proper documentation of design work.
  • Support consistency across digital products and platforms.

5. Learning & Professional Development

  • Continuously develop skills in UX/UI design methodologies, tools, and industry best practices.
  • Stay informed about emerging design trends and technologies.
  • Participate in mentorship sessions and training opportunities.
  • Support additional design-related tasks and projects as required.

Minimum Qualifications & ExperienceEssential

  • Qualified in UX/UI Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  • Recent graduate or final-year student seeking practical industry experience.
  • Basic portfolio showcasing academic, personal, freelance, or passion projects.
  • Familiarity with Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar design tools.
  • Understanding of fundamental UX/UI design principles.
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop professionally.

Pay: R5 500,00 per month
