Overview

We are seeking for motivated and customer-focused Retail Sales Agents to join a dynamic retail team in Johannesburg. This opportunity is ideal for matriculants who are looking to begin their career in retail, gain practical work experience, and develop valuable sales and customer service skills in a professional environment.

The successful candidate will play an important role in creating a positive shopping experience for customers, supporting daily store operations, and contributing to sales performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers in a friendly and professional manner

  • Assist customers with product selection based on their needs and preferences

  • Provide accurate information about products, pricing, promotions, and store policies

  • Maintain strong product knowledge to confidently answer customer questions

  • Support the sales process by recommending relevant products and upselling where appropriate

  • Process customer purchases accurately using the point-of-sale system

  • Handle customer queries and resolve basic concerns promptly and professionally

  • Restock shelves and ensure merchandise is neatly displayed at all times

  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the relevant supervisor

  • Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organizing new stock

  • Keep the store clean, organized, and visually appealing

  • Support the team in achieving daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets

  • Follow company procedures relating to cash handling, security, and customer service

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth daily operations

Requirements

Required

  • Matric / Grade 12 certificate

  • Interest in retail, sales, and customer service

  • Good verbal communication skills

  • Professional appearance and positive attitude

  • Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors

  • Basic numeracy skills for handling transactions and stock counts

  • Ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays when required

  • Reliable, punctual, and responsible

  • Able to work well as part of a team

  • Customer-focused approach with a willingness to assist people

Nice to Have

  • Previous exposure to retail, customer service, or sales through school projects, temporary work, or informal experience

  • Basic understanding of point-of-sale systems

  • Additional local language skills
