Productive and Healthy working environment

AECOM is a good company but the salary/benefit was a bit of a disadvantage for me. It was productive and the environment was healthy. It was easy to settle as the people are welcoming.

Productive & structured workplace

A typical day at work would include developing solutions with a wide collection of engineering and architectural groups. The company has broad exposure to all engineering disciplines. architectural and management services, as well as quality control during construction. I have learnt to improve communication skills and to develop cost-effective civil- and structural solutions. In a general sense, the value of a healthy work atmosphere that encourages productivity, good inter-personal relations and an appreciation of humour (when the work schedule gets hectic) added to the technical skills. The hardest part of the job is to do focused detail quality checks of drawings, schedules and designs to ensure that all known potential problems are avoided. The most enjoyable part of my work is to see satisfied clients requesting further work on new projects.

Pros

Wide-ranging world-wide opportunities.

Cons

The engineering market wants above-average work at a discount.

Very good company

In general, i can can only share positive feedback about working at AECOM. The corporate culture was great, and it filtered through to the general staff. The work life balance was very good.

Production driven

Not just a simple 8 to 5 job. You have to be willing to work overtime. Currently, I learn more aspects of design every day. The hardest part of the job is having to teach an employee things he is supposed to know as he had been in the same position as me for much longer than I have. The best part of the job is being able to design and model objects. We have the best manager in our Department. Very Reasonable.

Pros

flexible break times, Experienced individuals, Close to my place of residence

Cons

Long Hours with no bonus or overtime pay.

Was a good work atmoshere

As a whole the company was pretty good. The scaffolding Supers were a little out of their element, but managed pretty well. the crews were great and the work was typical, some slow times and some hair straight back times. The client was pretty easy to get along with and were supportive of the maintence crews

Productive workplace

On a daily basis it would be my responsibility to keep the project team informed of any deviations that I may have spotted on site during my routine walk about , in terms of the quality it must be measured accurately and be realistic to ensure that the Project requirements and specifications are being met at all times for the best of the Project. It is my best side to be in touch with different people different cultures and be equal to everyone where possible no matter your race or back ground in a professional way.

Pros

Different inviroment on site no day is the same.

Cons

Weather, obstacles that may arise and need to be addressed imidiately

Productive and fun work place with its ups and dowm moments

It is a fun company to work for, it has platforms which allow people to grow and deliver better productivity everyday. It is a company with a lot of departments (transport, water, mechanical, energy, structural etc) and we usually meet on fridays during Friday meetings and there we talk about everything and what changes we would like to see in the company inorder to be suitable for everybody, but the most enjoyable part is working with my mentor, he hellped me to be who i am today. we have the most exciting projects at the moment with a lot of tasks to complete.

Pros

30 minutes lunch

Cons

8 hours

It is a very comfortable work place.

The job was only vacation work. I worked with head engineer at the branch. I am always keen to learn, and the people that I worked with were always eager to teach me. I enjoy working with people and that was exactly what the job included. I had a lot of interaction with Engineers and contractors from different companies. The co-workers treated me in a professional way. As a student that was very much appreciated.

Productive, Fun and Supportive

We start work at 8am, most Mondays we have a resource meeting to talk about the week and what needs to be done in the week. Management is always giving advice and makes working at AECOM pleasant. My co-workers are extremely supportive and caring. We are more like a family in the office and we all very close. We do a lot of team building and sport activities together. The hardest part of my job is working long hours in the retail sector but i am grateful for the experience. I really enjoy working and going for training to better myself. I learn something new every week and I find the retail sector extremely interesting. It take a lot of hard work and long hours but the experience is worth it all.

Socially responsible and employer-centred international company

AECOM is likely the biggest international company with nearly 100,000 employees worldwide. I was responsible for the implementation and advancement of project controls and project controls systems in the Africa region. This included technical installations & deployment, training and high-level administration. It also included the offering if PMIS services to clients as a stand-alone management service. I naturally adapt very well to new environments and people and would like to believe that I am generally liked and respected. My management style is inclusive and sympathetic, while stringent when required. The most enjoyable part of my job was the ability to express creativity in the manner with which system solutions are designed to suit specific products, the biggest challenge being change management for employees to adopt and adapt to new systems.

Pros

Exposure to international skills support

Cons

Adhering to limiting systems variables to streamline global standards

Unethical Company

No consistency of job description. Always being thrown in the deep end by management. I am a person who likes stability in my position and preparation. As i take pride in what i do.
