Great employment benefits but salary is not competive for professionals. More catered for younger professionals due to 11 hour shifts. Structure for Operations can be improved, happy staff leads to more success. Not recommended for long term unless you decide to have a career with Amazon.
Work From Home
Night shift, long shifts.
The company has amazing colleagues, the work is easy to learn but you need to learn quickly and continuously. You must be responsible for your work, and maintain high and steady performance levels to keep your job in the long term. Working from home can be lonely especially since we work overnight. Customers can be stressful to deal with especially angry ones, but generally they're OK.It's a great starting job, but overtime you'll feel you lack growth and need to advance.
Paid Wi-Fi, work equipment. Salary.
Long hours, performance rating
I loved Amazon. It was a great company to work for with many amazing people from all over that you get to work with. The downside was the salary, I just could not afford to stay with the company on the salary I was getting, however, they do pay for your medical aid with discovery as well as your home internet here in South Africa up to a certain amount. If the salary was better I would have stayed on.
Shift work and long hours
Can be stressful at times since you're working with alot of complaints but it is rewarding once you get the issue resolved. Work hours can be long, but not boring as the work environment is very engaging.
Provident fund, medical and transport.
Long hours, stressful at times.
Amazon is very much a who you know company when it comes to success. No one is supportive if management has abused you and they get rid of you regardless of how well and how long you have worked there.
access to education site
Long hours, time watching, emotional abuse, bad managment
Amazon is an outstanding company to work at. The benefits are amazing, as well as the culture and environment. Amazon as a whole, inspires one to grow and learn.
Good salary, free popcorn, fruit and awesome departments for those that are tech savvy.
Hours might take some getting used to at the beginning.
Amazon is an AWESOME!!!! company to work for, they give a great salary and on top of that, they give you many benefits,Medical aid, provident fund and more. The Amazonianz as they called, are amazing people to work with,oh and the training given to its employees are exceptional. They prepare you for handling not only any kind of call but also how to handle a real life situation in or outside work.
Salary, benefits, Awesome employees
Working at Amazon was a wonderful experience because of the comfortable work environment. Everyone is friendly and shares the same goal which to be the most customer eccentric company in the world.
Free WiFi, Cafe in the canteen and games in the canteen
long and very awkward hours
Working at Amazon.com was a great experience. The shifts was a bit heavy. Abnormal i would say if you're not used to working at flexible hours. Transport is provided depending on the shift you're working.
Amazon has become an abusive company to staff members,, the company gives you new skills almost every month and you do not get paid an extra cent to work those extra skills. Top performers gets a chocolate and a R50 voucher to use in the canteen, no extra payment for your 110% and no compensation for the extra workload that gets dropped on you.
Learnt alot, very fast paced, friendly staff members. Customers are okay but the hours are crazy. I was pleased to work there for the short while. Their canteen is amazing and entertaining. food is great
On certain days you get free fruit and theres always free popcorn
long unconventional hours
I was at Book Depository, where you would receive emails from customers wanting to know about the books they have bought and when it can be expected to arrive. The hardest would be the long working hours.
The company overall is great, but job security is not so good as you will be out as fast as you got in. Management don't really care about employees except themselves. Lots of pressure during festive season and forced overtime. Perks is free company transport though.
Awesome company. Great benefits. However, you won't progress in the company if you point out wrong behaviour of managers. How do you expect workers to conduct themselves if managers don't do the same. You loose your job based on what people think of you instead of the excellent work you produce.
