It was a good experience for learning and developing new skills within the public accounting field. Pros: Professional development. Structure of company ensures the work is performed and properly supervised. Cons: No work-life balance as the website indicated. Work for long hours. That’s why people resign and employee turnover is so high and people end up hating the profession. Employees also have a Life and Family.
Competitive working environment
Many intern or staff starting in the firm feel energized & proud of what they do..when they realize management is not meeting expectations & supporting you they feel left out & not motivated to work. TO much work for the size of the firm & recently there has been a Legal Dispute with TWO partners. Not to recommend if your starting out. The only pros there is the staff & senior associate.
Corrupt Company negotiating in sketchy and illegal Government Contracts. So much that the CEO is facing Federal Charge of Corruption. Do not work for these people.
The company is a good place to start cause you learn about PR Taxes law and will see client you won't be able to work anywhere else. The tax season is a stressful time and will work overtime without pay. The rest of the year is relax.
It is a great opportunity for learn and grow. They have to work with the hours during the busy season, because we can expect that if going to be hard like another public firm, but it will be better.
Learned to audit almost all areas of a client including cash, receivables, payables, Property, Plant and Equipment, Loans, financial statement preparation.
Pros
Knowledge acquired.
Cons
Working Hours.
Great workplace culture where team building is encouraged. Vast clients with multiple industries where accumulation of knowledge is obtained. Accomplishments are never overlooked.
A typical day at BDO will start looking at my e-mails and find out the priorities for that day. Everyday was a challenge , learning new things related to the CPA Industry. I consider that the administration towards the employees requires more attention. The culture of the workplace was very interesting, interacting with different personalities and different ages was enriched. The hardest part of the job was work with difficult people, but at the same time was a challenge experience. The most enjoyable part was that I enjoyed what I was doing.
Pros
Free Snaks
Cons
Healthcare, 401K
The company provides excellent benefits and wellness program.
Employees have access to a structured Education Assistance Program.
Company provides up to date office environment.
Pros
Snack bar
Cons
Work Life Balance
The company offers many incentives and activities for the employees. Has a strong benefit package which includes medical, dental, life insurances; retirement plan with a company co-match; wellness program that includes a personal coach.
Pros
Free snacks and wellness program
Cons
none
Does not worth your time trying. BDO does not treat their employees equally and management are very disrespectful is subordinates. Management requests things and sacrifices from their staff that they are not willing to do themselves. Establishing preferences among the employees is the daily agenda and crawling really pay off. Not the type of firm where you want your work to talk of you. Tip for Management: Lead by Example!
Pros
You just have a job...
Cons
Everything else.
BDO Puerto Rico is a standard workplace in public accounting comparable to a Big Four experience. As a mid-market accounting services firm, it is rapidly growing and offers opportunities to explore a variety of industries and client types.

The people that work in the firm, especially the partners, make you feel that you are an essencial part of the company. BDO is a place where you grow professionally with the diversity of clients and the colleagues that you work with. Additionally, they have extracurricular activities such as: basketball, volleyball and bowling teams, as well as several outings.
BDO Puerto Rico, PSC is a great place to go to work every day. Although my time there was as a intern, I learned a great deal from this experience. Well managed, well planned, well recluted firm with continued growth.
Pros

As my first job experience in Accounting, BDO is a great way to start your career as they are reasonable and encourage growth and certification for their employees. Employees are friendly and competitive, and assist each other in work.
