Cons
long hours
management are so unsupportive and blunt. really toxic environment to be a part of lack of direction and training given no appreciation for work done.
Working at BDO was great for my first job. I learned a lot and management helped me thrive. However, the hours were long and I was stressed. The benefits were pretty good and overall I enjoyed working for BDO.
Good team, benefits, matching RRSP, medical insurance, wellness program, BDO education program, CPA courses fee reimbursement, you suppose to work overtime.
Relaxed work environment. Open-door management policy. Performance evaluation transparent. Lots of fun activities. Hardest part of the job is dealing with clients.
BDO has an amazing culture and is very involved in charity events. It is expected of you to work hard and you will work overtime when there are tight deadlines. The Pretoria office is smaller than the JHB office, but the culture amazing!
Great management and staff that helps you grow within the company and your future. Lot of learning opportunities during the busy season.
Open door policy for most managers and partners.
There are zero perks to working here. Managers are awful and essentially set you up for failure. The culture is extremely poor and compensation is the lowest out of all of the firms.
Do yourself a favour, work at a big 4,
A empresa pode até ter uma boa filosofia, mas em minha experiência necessitou de um acompanhamento de um superior sobre a a minha superior devido a má gestão alguns funcionários foram prejudicados.
Great for learning and knowledge improvement. Unlimited resources to learn. But there is a huge gap between managers and staff. No forgiveness for mistakes. But lots of perks.
Business Advisory Services
Typical day involved producing financial statements for small to medium business alongside tax returns, analysis and advice.
BDO was an amazing experience. I worked there as a coop student and was given a highly competitive wage and amazing benefits. They really help you learn and grow in a positive environment. Work-life balance is better there then anywhere else i have worked in the 20+ years
Don’t make plans to retire at this company. You won’t have the chance.
Too many Managers, too much micro-managing.
No work and life balance.
Super unfriendly.
Mass hires and mass fires for their busy season. No job security as an intermediate. Office cultures are completely different in Mississauga vs Burlington. Mississauga is more welcoming and relaxed.
Always an honor to work for a company that has been in business for as long as they have. Easy to develop skills and learn from others. Had the chance to work with a diverse portfolio of clients in many different financial requirements.
BDO westcoast (Vancouver, Langley and Whitehorse) is a must avoid place. It's an environment where someone is always after you to get you fired. While Vancouver office is slightly better , the Langley office is the worst. This office has very high turnover of employees. BDO Langley who tax department quit including the tax manager. Office partner is a lost soul and office is run by a small group of senior managers and they fire someone every couple of months. June to December period is almost fly killing time if you don't gang up with a senior manager. Too much politics and grouping.
Pros
Big 5 is only Pro
Cons
Non team environment, low salary, bad management
management does not care about you. management works you to death and they don't care about you one bit. turnover rate here is high as well. this is not a place to stay for the long term. get the experience and leave.
After working in London Branch,I realised management does not bother about employees.THey only need number are invoices getting printed.I would not recommend this company who want a job in in multicultural company. People who work here do not even greet each other.
Learned bookkeeping, balancing and monitoring of GL versus SL. hardest part of the job is everyday your going home late. Management is great in continuing employee development program. Most enjoyable part when finishing a day efficiently and effectively and rendering quality service to clients
