Good team spriit and good people to work with. Audit itself is just a bit dull after several years working on the same clients. The pay whilst training is poor, but you gain the qualification which opens doors to much higher paid roles. There are more office politics than usual.

Its a place where you can learn a lot from different indistries and meet important people in different organisation
A typical day is an 8 hour work and during the peak period may work for 14 hours. I have learnt to manage my time and supervise an audit assignment from start to finish. Management is quite equipped knowledge wise and understand people they work with, however, sometimes inconsiderate as far as time is concerned. Encouraging junior staff to work on weekends which they feel is their private time to rest and connect with family is difficult. What I enjoy the most is being in charge of assignment and take on more responsibility.
I have been working at BDO full-time for more than a year and have enjoyed by time here. The job offers good opportunities to gain experience in a wide variety of industries and as well providing a solid foundation to pursue higher education.

A typical day at work began at 8 am, we where always required to be dressed smartly. The work was very routine from my end. Preparation of financial statements with tight deadlines. The hardest part of my job was work life balance. I was always working as a result i have no time to socialize with family and friends outside work. The enjoyable part of my job was interacting with different people with different perspective. I learn a few things from my colleagues.
The learning experience in BDO LLP is rewarding and enriching. The learning curve is stiff, good place to start a career but not advise to stay for more than 3 years. Top management urgently needs to improve the company's culture.
Working at BDO Mauritius has been a very good experience where i was able to learn operations in different industries which i am grateful to the management for these assignments. Being exposed to communicating with various clients was beneficial. Was also able to train and manage subordinates in the audit field so that the assignment is completed within agreed timeframe.
opportunity to learn various industries
Review many clients at one go
Management team especially at the local level could be better. Clear communication is especially on the expectations to the people below to help them move to the next level is not clear and concise. Focus on improving quality should be taken seriously. Serious staffing and turn over problem affects focusing on quality.
The days could be laborious as it entails working at client sites. Sometimes deadlines could be very tight. The hardest part of the job was working away from home. Especially for people with families. The most enjoyable part of the job is the experience and exposure of many industries.
Long hours, high school environment where people form cliques
