To take over from your colleague was always interesting ,learned most of my skills from BAT,there was always a good understanding between the different cultures ,the shifts were always hard to get used to ,the most enjoyable part was to see the production flow
Had a big lounge
Well presented on the surface but very low salary, no over time, over worked, forget about getting your pension fund money back when you retire. Small for small pay when one is doing higher rank taskstasks
Slavery with peanuts
Its a great company to work for based on the friendly atmosphere/attitude of its employees and its salary structure is very well structured. A big NO is their management people from top level to lower management, they lack general understanding of .managing staff. Personal Advancement in the company is Zero to Nil, unless you know someone from management who can create a position for you or encourage you to apply for a particular position. Favouritism is a culture.
Day started with meeting at 06H00 in the morning planning the day ahead.I left at 07H30 to go the market.I learned that enthusiasm and positivity rubs off on the clients as well,be honest and respect the different cultures. The management is reliable and supportive. The workplace culture was very diverse but always a positive vibe. The hardest part of the job was the uncertainty of departments closing because of government pressure. The most enjoyable part of the job was my close relationship with my fellow employees and the job satisfaction of satisfied customers.
BAT is a fun company but one has to work hard to enjoy the fun in the company. As an employee you are given adequate training and sufficient support ,The communication channels are open and information is sent down to employees on time and everyone is given an opportunity to ask questions for clarity.
Lots of potential for advancement and growth. A lot of on the job learning, the company culture was very social and teamwork was priority go get the job done. Management were great at guiding our projects and assisting us on the ground to ensure everything always went successfully.

Nothing really, just that it was not permanent
Each day is different where one encounters and, reviews and fixes problems, both in the factory and the office. Factory: Wastages, Machine problems, Insufficient production stock allocated for night shift, Recons of actual wastage figures compared to budgeted, checking of stock levels, daily stock takes. I learned that one must be on top of it all. Management and co-workers were always there to assist and impart knowledge. Hardest part of job was sitting both accounting and manufacturing staff and educating them on why each of their positions are useless without the other and then educating them on the importance of required figures. The most enjoyable part of the job was it's unpredictably where no two days are the same. Even more important were my co-workers where matters are settled immediately without any grudges held and the freely sharing of knowledge without the thought that one wants the others job.
Excellent working conditions, with the most updated equipment
Long meetings that when one requires information, then one must wait until the meeting ends, but on the other one must realise that most meetings involve management of the companies abroad.

its a nice company to work for, nice environment
yes we work long hours, but you dont feel it
Work starts at 6am, we get briefed on the objectives of the day then we start work on the field. I've learnt how to work smart and hard at the same time. The hardest part of my job are the constant hijackings because we carry stock and money in field. The most enjoyable part of my job is that we meet different and interesting people everyday.
managing your own time and productivity
British American Tobacco is a giant within the industry it operates in. Working the exposes you to professionals in different fields and such a diverse staff that have made sure the company remains in existence. Anyone can be proud of being part of this winning organization and i believe that if they keep employing the right people and making sure they are happy, they will continue to rise from strength to strength despite regulations that negatively affect the tobacco industry. Lazy people could never survive in this company. A typical day starts at six and could easily end after six in the evening. A learnt to embrace the importance of hard work. as in any other organization, there will always be dissatisfied employees but its always important to associate oneself with the positive people. In my job, you are always at a risk of a hijack and the hours stretch depending on your territory and hence the importance of high levels of motivation. Knowing that i am making a difference within my territory in the manner in which my customers conduct business brought me much satisfaction.
it's wen a day end without any hijackings.what i have learned is how to cope underpressure.Management how to treat everyone equally irrespective of their carectors. My co-workers are the best always willing to show or teach u what u dont understand.Hardest part is when one of the big trucks are hijacked cause they worth millions. Most enjoyable part is when the criminals are caught.
