I spent 17 long years at cape Town fish market in durban and I must be honest it was very good to work there. I started as a runner and in three months was a kitchen manager and it only went upwards from there as I wanted to grow in the company and that happen I then became a senior foh manager and moved to the second in charge in the store. I loved working close with my staff and most of all interacting with the customers daily. If I had a choice to go back I'd do it without a thought.
Get in the morning and change into work gear and start unpacking all the products that need to be iced and shelved like fish and lobster. I learnt about he different types of fish and their seasons, in what manner fish is cooked and how a food business is run. Management always has to be on the lookout for quality service.

It's good working in Capetown fish market because u will also have the ability to learn other areas in the shop and also you will gain the ability of working under minimum supervision
I've learned lot of things as I didn't know anything about seafood so it was great experience for me, sushi as well even the great regular customers
Best to follow standard operating procedures when at work. We are all here to give our customers the best experience at Cape Town Fish Market. Strong ethics makes it possible for all of us to enjoy our work place daily
Staff meal and 2days off a week. Meeting new people daily from all around South Africa
Not much... It's a pity we located inside a mall and not next to the beach
I had a great time pity I had to stop due to exams. We worked as a pair I.e a new member with a old one for few weeks to get used to the service and custom duties. We would work from 9 - 14:00 pm than from 14:00 to 9 pm. It is a exquisite franchise serving sea food.

I was the franchise owner together with my wife. The franchise had to close down as it was not profitable as it was presented to us. We ended up going to court for misrepresentation of the business. The court case is on going with ENS that offered to help us. As I have worked in the customer support before, the culture that I put in place was good for our customers and employees. They still give my wife and I respect even if the business does not exist anymore.
Its was a profitable experience as I have always wanted to be a sushi chef and this company has made that possible for me sending me for the training not only for sushi but also leant teppinyaki as well
