We're also going through our own transformation – we're improving, growing, developing and putting our people first. Every day we help millions of people, by delivering innovative solutions to transform and simplify the connections between businesses and customers, governments and citizens. Discover a career to be proud of

We give our employees access to a huge range of unique and diverse opportunities, which in turn empowers them to strive for the career they want. Our customer service teams, for example, support a variety of clients in many different and meaningful ways. They are doing everything they can to carry on serving our clients during the Covid-19 emergency, and help them to maintain the vital services they provide to customers and citizens. A majority of our workforce is now homeworking and remote solutions are being introduced, where possible, to ensure the delivery of critical services. In essential cases where office-based or on-location working is still necessary as part of our client and customer service, we’re following government approved social distancing conditions while in our offices. Our priority at Capita is to protect the well-being of our colleagues, clients and partners – and to carry on serving the communities and societies in which we operate.

When it comes to our customer service teams, we believe in equal opportunities through training and self-led development. If you have previous customer service or retail experience, that’s brilliant, but if not, don’t worry, it’s not essential. You could be taking your first steps into a career, returning after a break, or simply looking for new challenge. Either way, as long as you’re self-motivated, with a confident approach to everything you do, we’ll give you all the training you need to succeed.

We're growing future leaders

We have apprenticeships, graduate schemes and work experience programmes across different parts of our business. Each is designed to help you gain professional experience and develop your skillset. We’ll challenge you to think differently, solve problems with creativity and to push yourself while expanding your horizons. Apprenticeships There are a great deal of rewards and benefits to be gained from an apprenticeship with us. From entry to senior level, digital to leadership skills, we offer a range of apprenticeships to advance your career. Based on approved government standards, our apprenticeships are tailored to you so you can get the most out of your placement and show us your best self. You’ll spend most of your time – around 80% - working on the job. The other 20% you’ll be learning. Digital learning is combined with a face to face approach and sometimes peer-to-peer learning, too. We support apprenticeships in seven areas: leadership and management; growth; finance; customer service excellence; legal; programme management; and, digital. You’ll receive nationally recognised qualifications alongside valuable training and mentorship. You’ll learn how to be an effective member of a team, and will handle a varied, stimulating and challenging workload, allowing you to gain the requisite skills to excel in any workplace. Graduates Whether you’re fresh from university, have taken some time out after graduating, or already have some professional experience, we’ve a wealth of career options to choose from. You’ll be given responsibility, autonomy and the training you need to shine from day one. You'll be embarking on one of the most diverse and exciting career paths available in the UK. Our aim is to encourage you to build a broad network, as well as develop a wide range of skills, combined with sought-after knowledge. If you share our values, you’ll be able to build a successful, rewarding career with us.

Our culture and values

‘We create better outcomes’ This is our purpose and it drives everything we do. We also have our values, our ‘VOICE’ - Values, Open, Ingenious, Collaborative, Effective. They define who we are, and guide us to work together in an inclusive environment where we can all thrive and develop. We encourage everyone to bring their whole self to work, because every one of us is unique and we value their difference. No matter your background, we want you to be yourself at Capita. We encourage an open, honest working environment where everyone can be themselves and be valued for their differences. That’s why we do everything we can to look after our employees. Right now, we’re ensuring everyone who needs to, can work at home. And those that need to be in our offices are protected through government approved hygiene and social distancing measures. We also offer flexible working, remote working and job shares, as well as the opportunity to buy extra holiday days to help you get the work life balance you want.

What's the culture like within your team?

What's it really like working here?

Kieran, a recent undergraduate intern, gives a real-life insight into what it’s like in the Capita Consulting team: “As today is my last day here at Capita, I just wanted to say a few things. Firstly, I’ve had a brilliant 10 weeks here, and have loved every minute of being part of the fast moving, forward thinking environment that is Capita Consulting! You’ve all been incredibly welcoming and made me feel a part of the team – I’ve really enjoyed learning about what the cutting edge of consultancy looks like in all sorts of different areas, and this is really down to the time you have all given me. I couldn’t have asked for a wider variety of things to experience, lessons to learn and people to meet – thank you!” Iram, commercial manager at Capita: “I’ve always felt I had good exposure to opportunities at Capita, and if I’ve ever wanted to get involved in anything, I’ve never had anyone say no.” We’re doing all we can to create a working environment that looks after the wellbeing of our people, encourages open dialogue and ensures that everyone – regardless of their background – is given a voice, and an opportunity to reach their potential.

Diversity and inclusion

As a large organisation, we want to make sure we create an inclusive culture that reflects the diversity around us – of our clients, their customers, our colleagues and the communities we work in. It’s how we’ll continue to invite fresh perspectives into our work, discover innovative ways to positively impact the world around us, and create better outcomes. We already have a range of employee networks that represent every strand of diversity, to provide a place for people to connect and learn from each other, which anybody can get involved in. These include the Family Network, the Ability Network, Rainbow Alliance (LGBTQ+), Embrace (Race and Ethnicity) and the Multi-Faith Network. We’re also working to establish a Wellbeing Network and Gender Equality Network in 2021. These networks are led by our colleagues and supported by our executive committee to drive change and conversation across the business, as well as to mark important events, from Black History Month to Pride. We’ve also partnered with The Youth Group to understand the most effective ways of supporting young people currently out of work, whether that’s through employment, internships, mentoring or career development training. On top of that, we have a range of initiatives around training and development to support our colleagues, including specific support for ex-military, reverse mentoring, and different flexible working options. Our colleagues have access to Employee Assistance Programmes, a wellbeing hub, as well as trained Mental Health First Aiders and Wellbeing Champions. We’re part of the 30% Club, which offers mentoring for women to help increase female representation in senior leadership, and as a response to Black Lives Matter, we’ve committed to ensure at least 15% of our workforce at all levels (including 5% Black) are from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.
