If you have previous customer service or retail experience, that’s brilliant, but if not, don’t worry, it’s not essential. We have apprenticeships, graduate schemes and work experience programmes across different parts of our business. Each is designed to help you gain professional experience and develop your skillset. Apprenticeships There are a great deal of rewards and benefits to be gained from an apprenticeship with us. From entry to senior level, digital to leadership skills, we offer a range of apprenticeships to advance your career. Based on approved government standards, our apprenticeships are tailored to you so you can get the most out of your placement and show us your best self. You’ll spend most of your time – around 80% - working on the job. The other 20% you’ll be learning. Digital learning is combined with a face to face approach and sometimes peer-to-peer learning, too. We support apprenticeships in seven areas: leadership and management; growth; finance; customer service excellence; legal; programme management; and, digital. You’ll receive nationally recognised qualifications alongside valuable training and mentorship. You’ll learn how to be an effective member of a team, and will handle a varied, stimulating and challenging workload, allowing you to gain the requisite skills to excel in any workplace. Graduates Whether you’re fresh from university, have taken some time out after graduating, or already have some professional experience, we’ve a wealth of career options to choose from. You’ll be given responsibility, autonomy and the training you need to shine from day one. You'll be embarking on one of the most diverse and exciting career paths available in the UK. Diversity and inclusion
As a large organisation, we want to make sure we create an inclusive culture that reflects the diversity around us – of our clients, their customers, our colleagues and the communities we work in. It’s how we’ll continue to invite fresh perspectives into our work, discover innovative ways to positively impact the world around us, and create better outcomes. We already have a range of employee networks that represent every strand of diversity, to provide a place for people to connect and learn from each other, which anybody can get involved in. These include the Family Network, the Ability Network, Rainbow Alliance (LGBTQ+), Embrace (Race and Ethnicity) and the Multi-Faith Network. We’re also working to establish a Wellbeing Network and Gender Equality Network in 2021. These networks are led by our colleagues and supported by our executive committee to drive change and conversation across the business, as well as to mark important events, from Black History Month to Pride. We’ve also partnered with The Youth Group to understand the most effective ways of supporting young people currently out of work, whether that’s through employment, internships, mentoring or career development training. On top of that, we have a range of initiatives around training and development to support our colleagues, including specific support for ex-military, reverse mentoring, and different flexible working options. Our colleagues have access to Employee Assistance Programmes, a wellbeing hub, as well as trained Mental Health First Aiders and Wellbeing Champions. We’re part of the 30% Club, which offers mentoring for women to help increase female representation in senior leadership, and as a response to Black Lives Matter, we’ve committed to ensure at least 15% of our workforce at all levels (including 5% Black) are from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.
