Productive work place

The job involves interacting with customers on a daily basis. I learned that I must leave my frustrations at the door because I had to stay happy in order to make customers happy. Management can be sometimes tough because we had targets to meet. The culture of self development prevailed. The hardest part is to deal with unhappy customers. I enjoyed meeting different people and meeting their expectations

Pros

I did not work weekend

Cons

Very hectic environment

Busy and Uncontrolable workplace

Working there was not a typical nine-five day. Work started at 5am everyday, which is not really a problem for me but we did not have a set knock-off time. There were times we would only knock off at 8pm or even 00:00. Depending on where we were stationed. That really taught me how to manage my time properly. The management was really poor at first, giving us wrong instructions when we were on the job but the company eventually brought in a different manager to help and things began to tighten up. I had great co-workers, the workplace was never a dull place to be and most of them were hard workers with a "never leave a man behind" mentality, so everybody chipped in to help one another. The hardest part of the job was working in difficult conditions on-site, with no shelter or chairs or even tables to write and literally working with thousands of people a day with not enough stationary. The best parts of the job(and this might sound cliche) were the joy of seeing the the relief on the peoples faces when the recieve the grant that they really need to provide for their children and gran-children and experiencing the hospitality of some of the people in the places we visited.

Pros

Opportunity to meet new and interesting people and experiencing real zulu culture.

Cons

Long hours and poor working conditions.

I enjoyed my jobs.

Waking up in the morning and making it to the office before 8 a.m was overwhelming. I found it a bit difficult to get by the day's work as we worked long hours and usually under pressure. I adjust pretty quick to the working environment and at the end of the day I would be exhausted but applauded myself for a job well done as my work was always up-to-date. Getting along with my colleagues was essential to both the company and myself as an individual, but getting involved in office politics was so not my thing. I told myself that I'm here to work nothing more and nothing less. My challenging part of the job was trying to convinces young children that the fingerprint scanner doesn't burn and that its harmless but I managed just fine. My most enjoyable part of my job was interacting with people, mostly elderly people. I remember when I was enrolling an elderly couple and we were having a very fruitful yet friendly chat about marriage. They told me a lot I didn't know about love and marriage. I really learnt a lot about communication and the different people that we assist on a daily basis.

Pros

day off

Cons

Long hours
