Workplace overall experience
Professinal nurse (Former Employee) - Johannesburg, Gauteng - 24 July 2023
Even though stock was missing most of the time, Baragwanath taught me to think on my feet, and also work my hardest because there was a shortage of staff. But in general, I got home satisfied because we did all we could for the patients that needed it.

Productive and fun workplace
Human Resource Clerk (Former Employee) - Soweto, Gauteng - 18 April 2021
I enjoyed working at the hospital, especially at HR department because i got to experience and explore a lot around the hospital environment. I loved working with more matured and experienced individual within each and every role I have encountered. The culture was out of this world, a very stress free environment to work in. I have also gained as much experience as possible under my educational career of HR Management under being an HR Clerk at the hospital.

HIV vaccine clinical trial coordinator (Current Employee) - Soweto, Gauteng - 7 September 2020
It is a challenging and stressful environment. Management is okay but can speak up for people better and hardest part of the job is to deal with difficult people. Enjoyable is the nature of the job is really fullfilling, it is toward a purpose.
Pros
Gifts every now and then
Cons
Management can not relate to other people

Cleaner (Former Employee) - Johannesburg, Gauteng - 12 June 2019
Guys my view is tht even if the position of the job you want is not the don't reject people they are many jobs as a person can do.
It's a good environment with certain people who treated other's good but they are other's who disrespect patients.
Pros
Free launch
Cons
Right hours

Strainous environment but has growth potential if given the opportunity
Material Recording Clerk (Former Employee) - Soweto Johannesburg Gauteng - 20 May 2019
A very challenging day to day environment as I worked with different people from different backgrounds. I have learned curtomer care and being a team player to achieve the organisations goals. The management team was very much suportive as I have arquired administration skills and managerial skills under their supervision. The most difficult part of the job was working with people older than me and giving them instructions to follow which they were reluctant to follow because of the age different.
Pros
Pension Fund and Housing
Cons
non

Great learning facility
enrolled nurse (Current Employee) - Soweto, Gauteng - 20 January 2019
The management at the hospital lacks humility, a typical day at work is very strenuous, we are very short staffed and the work load is overwhelming. on the upside, there is much to learn, there are different conditions which broaden my skills and knowledge. Ive also been exposed to different wards around the hospital including, medical, paediatric surgical and padiatric haematology and oncology. the most enjoyable part of my job is seeing patients heal and being able to go home in good health.
Pros
great learning environment
Cons
short staffed

Lots of opportunities
professional nurse (Former Employee) - Johannesburg, Gauteng - 27 June 2018
Acquired skills and became a critical thinker. I was given an opportunity to be a team leader in both the trauma and medical admission wards. The culture at Bara is that its either you adapt to it or you wont cope. The hardest was working without resources. The most enjoyable part is that you miss the patients and the staff.
Pros
you learn a lot
Cons
no resources, shortage of staff

Lack of productive and growth
IT Support Technician (Former Employee) - Johannesburg, Gauteng - 2 May 2017
There was a lot of work with limited resources. i have learned to deliver solutions and services to users with limited resources. Completing all assigned calls without the help of management due to lack of their support. The hardest part of the job was to be expected to deliver without resources to complete the job and lack of rights to complete some of the daily duties due to specific stakeholder holding the rights for that specific task. The most enjoyable part of the job was to be a problem solver under any circumstances and working with limited supervision and satisfying all end users.
Pros
Learned to enjoy the job without expecting praises from management
Cons
Nepotism and favourism

Very educational with invaluable exposure to clinical work
Quality Assurance Coordinator (Current Employee) - Soweto, Gauteng - 10 February 2017
It can be very fast paced but the variety of conditions makes it a wonderful place to work for persons who are eager to learn. The hours can be long at times but one is able to build lovely long-term friendships with a large variety of professionals.
