Fast paced environment, lots of pressure but you'll build valuable skills quickly
N/A (Former Employee) - Johannesburg, Gauteng - 12 August 2022
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedOverall experience is very much dependant on which department you're in. The general company culture is quite healthy & laid back. If you really want to proce that you handle pressure well, can multi-task & provide quality work in a short amount of time - this is the place for you. Cons -Salary -Benefits -WFO

It's a stressful environment
picker/packer (Former Employee) - Jet Park, Gauteng - 27 April 2022
Salary is not enough and it's sad that they can pay more but choose not too. The moral of the staff is low. If the management can invest in their employees aloy of things can improve

Horrible work life balance and minimal compensation
General (Former Employee) - Johannesburg - 1 April 2022
The main selling point of the company is the culture, the people they hire are (for the most part) the best aspect of Core. The teams are encouraged to work together and develop bonds in and outside of work which was the only redeemable part of the company experience. On the negative side of things The vast majority of senior management are like an "old-boys club" where you either 'fit in" or "get out". Subordinates are treated as such and if you are brave enough to raise concerns about your treatment, work / life balance or team, they are often seen to with haste and abandoned a few weeks later. If you do not embrace the horrible deadlines and inconsequential pressures put on you, the management will laugh and joke about how it is "the core culture" and "not everyone can crack it". This in itself creates a horrible and toxic idea; that you have to be willing to sacrifice everything in order to "fit in". No work - life balance When required to work 10 - 16 hour days (which happened weekly), to meet the unnecessary deadlines put forward by seniors, you may have the pleasure of being greeted with a text saying anything from "thank you" to "see you tomorrow at 8:00am" with absolutely no concern for personal matters or that you are leaving the office only to return less than 10hrs later. When sickness or family responsibility strikes, the care is very much on the onus of your direct manager. HR sees nothing beyond contracts and disciplinary cases. If your manager is caring, you will be granted time off, if your manager hasn't bothered to learn where you live after almost a -

Fun at times there is just soo muxh pressure because of the product we sold
Sales Consultant (Current Employee) - Pretoria, Gauteng - 21 January 2022
I think for the amount of money that we are expected to bring every month we are not compensated. Fairly. If theu can change that i think it would be a fun working place. And some hierarchy could change treating people like they are nothing. Recognize hard work and dedication

Fast paced environment, but worthwhile experience
SALES CONSULTANT, ISTORE (Former Employee) - Johannesburg, Gauteng - 2 August 2020
The environment needs you to be on your toes especially month end and launch days, expect the unexpected, build friendships that turn into family. Core Group (iStore) is the best company to work in

Productive and fun workplace and teamwork.
Sales Consultant (Former Employee) - Woodlands, Gauteng - 10 February 2020
I learned capturing of Client information onto All service Providers if need be and into Apple Database, selling of Apple products according to clients needs and setting up of devices and new Lines and Upgrading Contracts. There's excellent team work and everyone looks out for each other. Management has good leadership skills and they also listen to your concerns.

Fun exciting products, tough organisation
Manager (Former Employee) - Johannesburg, Gauteng - 22 December 2016
Exciting products and environment, if you are willing to put up with excessive, somewhat unreasonable demands, while job security is not great. Level of organisation, training and structure also much lower than what you would get in a big company. Hierarchy such that employees are not clear on what or how many jobs they are filling. Good for those liking more of a 'cowboy' culture.
Pros
Exciting products
Cons
Disorganisation, lack of training and HR skills, high demands
