It was very exciting to start working at Mgs contractor for Hendrina Power Station. I have learnt a lot and my skills just improved day by day. I have started as a Supervisor on Site. This was something new to me but I believe if you want to learn then you have the courage you will do your best to do so. I really love my job. My boss send me for courses at OHS Academy. It was great because I have a passion for study and I pass all my courses. I was working at MGS at Hebdrina Power Station since June 2012 until 2020. My reason for leaving was END OF CONTRACT IN JULY.2020 I relocate back to my hometown Western Cape PROVINCE, Cape Town
Pros

Cons
Long hours
When i first joined Eskom i was not clued up about it as an organisation. Through internal training I managed to learn more about the culture and the systems we are using. I also learn to work in teams which was new to me. What I like about my job is that we experience new challenges everyday which makes my job more interesting and challenging.
Pros
No limitation to career development
Cons
no gym & sport activities
Escom/Evkom was far more better managed especially financially. High amounts paid for electricity were immeduately invested which is not happening any more and that is naturally a lost of income from interest received
Pros
Still one of the better Gov / Parastatel to work for
Cons
Serious lack of vision about consequences of wrong or bad desisions taken
If I could get a chance to work for Eskom again I would grab it with both hands. But I would ask for an adjustment with salary .
Eskom is a good working environment, safety and stressless.
Productive
Gained confidence, responsibilities, and presentation skills.
Management is very informative.
Culture is easy to adapt to.
Hardest part working in a dusty and Hot environment
Eskom is a good company to work for but the sad part about being a survey technician is the limited growth. You can only be a supervisor that's it. There is no other position to grow further.
Pros
Not really
Cons
Limited skill
Customer satisfaction non existing. Management think its their personal company. No discipline and no career advance opportunities for some individuals . Politically driven
Pros
Training and safety a plus point
Cons
