Challenging work and always changing work enviroment

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
You start early in the morning between 3-6AM and drive out to your first designated store. You go to the stockroom of that store and bring out the back stock or new shipment. From there you then stock and merchandise product onto the shelves and displays. You knock down the cardboard for reuse and then clean up any mess. Then you front all the shelves and displays and check out with the store manager if available. You then drive to your next designated store and repeat.

This is a job for someone with no life.

The work itself is simple and straight forward pick product and load trucks. What makes it difficult is the management they are an unorganized group with no sense of leadership. Some managers here do not care about you or what you have going on in your life. HR does not care, Payroll people are incompetent messing up everyones pay, and management will work you to the core. Policies change all the time and you are babysat like a child. You are forced each and every day of the week including your day off. You get no time at home or to take care of personal things. Favoritism is big the more you brown nose the more management likes you. I am still working at Frito Lay but I do not know how much longer I can go. This job pays well and benefits are good. If you had no family and love to work this is the place to be you'll pretty much live and breathe Frito Lay but if you're looking for a job that will allow you to live a normal human life then look elsewhere.

Pros

Good Pay Benefits

Cons

Stressful only one day off forced to stay past 2 everyday. Incompetent management

Great co workers but can be stressful at times

You just need to give yourself time to get to learn the job. After that, the stress seems to lessen. It takes a while until you get to feel "welcomed" because there are so many different shifts and people.

Pros

Great pay and benefits

Cons

Can be stressful

Toxic Workplace with no work/life balance

Management sucks and doesnt put the interests or advancement of their employees first. I was a salary employee and always works at least 10-12 hours a day 5 days a week. Management have favorites and will only promote their favorites despite their work ethic and effort into the job. Management doesn't care at all about the hourly employees. They hire engineers to be managers but you never use your engineering degree.

Pros

Decent Benefits (Health, Vision etc.)

Cons

Management is super toxic and has favorites, no work/life balance, 10-12+ hour days

Work days varied based on amount of orders being shipped out

Ran like a union for vacation bidding. Managers generally rotate after two years and unless your willing to relocate you are stuck at the position your in

Good pay, long hours and terrible management.

Worked there for almost 22 years. Had PERFECT attendance. You would think that an employee with such loyalty would be rewarded for this. WRONG! One manager gave me a $5 gift card. Another one said "Thanks, great job". Got a cake and lunch.

Pros

Great pay

Cons

Long hours, much overtime and uncaring management

It's a hard job!

The job is pretty straightforward. You drive to each store then merchandise the product. Weekly there are displays to build which is not my favorite thing to do. The merchandise comes on huge carts and sometimes you'll get 6 and 7 carts to work. You can have two to three stores to work. It's a hard job but the pay is decent and they have great benefits. The managers are nice. Overall I like my job.

Pros

Pay and benefits. Good management.

Cons

Hours.

Hot and Noisy

Very fast paces environment, you have to learn and memorize so many components, it gets very hot especially in the summer and the days off are weekdays with 2nd and 3rd shifts available for low seniors, the longer you are there the better schedule you'll get, and it can take years for descent schedule. If you like OT this is a place for you with lots of forced OT.

Pros

Ok benefits

Cons

Bad schedules

Easy to do, mentally, hard to do physically.

Lots of physical work, very little to do mentally. Long hours and early mornings. Can eventually have a set schedule but at first it’s all spontaneous really. Good money but hard to do if you have kids and daycare and then have to work every weekend.

If u want to have a life outside of this job. Then it will not be with frito lay

Lack of respect, bunch of lies are told to capture ur full work potential and then get nothing out of it. Managers are freshly hired from college, and 95% don't no how to manage.

Pros

Weekly check

Cons

Everything

Unorganized but pays well

This place is so unorganized, so for me, it is very stressful to work that way. You basically work alone, so sometimes that is good, but also sometimes it gets pretty boring. The pay is good but you only get about 30 hours these days with the product not coming in. You work about 3am everyday, which has it's good and bad to that.

Pros

Work alone, pay

Cons

Work alone, hours, unorganized

Long days, workload gets piled on with no regard for work life balance.

The route salespeople are considered to be the backbone of the company. It's debatable if they are compensated that way. Pay structure doesn't make it worth the extra hours when extra tasks and accounts are piled on. Instead of time and a half in this company pay is cut in half and decreases the more hours you put in. The job postings for this company read 50 hour work week minimum. They're not kidding.

Pros

Decent health insurance and benefit plan. Profit sharing and pension were available.

Cons

Long hours, challenging weather conditions

If your part time here expect to have very little hours unless you’re a top performer

I started out getting a full two weeks of work. 8 hours a day plus possible over time. You’ll have a 90 day evaluation that management isn’t on top of to let you know how your doing. The environment is very fast paced. Unless you like walking and can do it fast. I Dede don’t recommend for you

Very flexible job

Very easy job to work at , they're very flexible with there shifts, all day shifts. A bit of manual labor is involved. Always shifts to pick up overtime. Pretty easy going otherwise

There is absolutely NO communication between you and management

early mornings, late evenings -no communication with employer/boss. I never met him, only spoke with once.- I learned it is very essential to have an open line of communication in any job no matter what.- My environment was pleasant for the most part.- Hardest part of job was not having associate help to complete daily assignments in the time given to be completed. Too much was expected of one employee.- Most enjoyable was the freedom to move around and not be stuck in one place.

Pros

Able to move around, eat when you wanted to

Cons

no help or communications with management/ boss

Horrible Mgmt structure and actual account awareness!

There are 5 zillion managers here. I have never seen as many manager and supervisors/leads in my life in any job I’ve had. With so many of these chiefs you would think they would at least be pretty organized and efficient on a departmental level. But, they are not. From scheduling to payroll they drop the ball. And talk about work/life balance they pull out of the air how long a route sales person should spend in an account. You’d think this large a company would do some simple time/motion studies to learn just exactly how long it takes to,arrive at a store retrieve product, stock product, clean up and face up aisles and account form PF&D (personal Fatigue and delay -people do,get tired) These 5 zillion managers harkenmthe good ole days when they thought they could do what Route Sales people do in ridiculous short periods of time. Their 8 hour estimate of a full day guarantee runs 10 hours for the actual rep. Pretty clueless here, and they got rid of commissions to reps. So now if you have a good idea to increase sales just shelve it you won’t get paid on it anyway. The person in the account knows what can and needs to sold pretty comical approach. They’re lucky their really the only game in town.

Pros

Not much other than they pay you weekly (most of the time!)

Cons

Horrible work life balance no clue how long servicing accts takes no real breaks during the day

Na

The pay is good but the the forces over time if 4 hours with only 2 hours left in your shift is terrible like they should tell you the day before and better shift

Not the best choice of a job, seriously don’t work here unless you want to have your body al broken up

Don’t work here, your body will hurt become broken and they only care about how fast you move.... and most equipment is broken. The create a hostile environment. Being promoted to full time is a popularity contest, this place isn’t worth your energy

Pros

Co Workers, met a lot of good people inside my building

Cons

The treat you like you can’t take a break, Work Equipment (Tuggers, Handhelds, Headsets etc) always Mess up, they want you to do miracles with just about nothing, the create a hostile atmosphere for employee’s I could keep coming on and on
