Indeed Featured review

The working hours allows for a work life balance but the environment is not productive at all. There isn't any challenges that stretches one to grow.

No growth

No matter how much you can over work yourself, they never appreciate nor do they offer you permanent position. They just keep on renewing intern contract's and capatalise on your skills.

No room for Growth if you an Intern

There is no room for growth, employment can be secured if there is someone who is politically connected to your or admire you personally, How its a great work environment to improve and sharpen your reasoning capacity and cognitive abilities, the nature of work is systemic and collaborative, there is room for capacity building and employee improvement to maximize output and delivering a quality output.

Pros

Capacity building and room for improvement to learn new skills

Cons

No room for growth and job security if you not politically connected

Very Good compare to Limpopo were I started. I have learned a lot in Gauteng and developed into a better and knowledgeable person.

Gauteng is much better than Limpopo not doubt. Not only about availability of resources but training of workers and leadership skills are better. U become a better and knowledgeable worker by working in Gauteng.

Pros

Skills development and trainings

Cons

Culture of teaching and learning is not adhered to by some educators and learners.

Working at the Department of Education is really fun and challenging the environment allows you to show your capabilities to work.

The working environment at the Department of Education is fun, friendly and challenging, there's so much to learn as the technology changes or improves at the IT department.

Lazy work culture

Everything is done at their pace with little regard for clients or customer service. The offices do not look corporate, rather they look like old traditional classrooms. I would not recommend someone to work here, especially someone like a trainee or intern who is looking to gain experience because they won't gain valuable experience. The work ethic there is terrible that can be characterised by 'minimum efforts, minimum results'. Once you settle in you won't want to do any work and if you try to do good things everyone will hate you.

educator, teaching at high school

lacking development for teacher improvement and in terms of looking at teacher qualifications. Get promotion based on teacher union involvement not based on qualification. Learner teacher ratio abnormal.

exploiting teacher and overworking them for free

it is painful to work hard with a degree or more but be paid less than a person who is working for municipality with only Grade 10 or a municipality clerk
