Navigant is a company dedicated to providing the best service to its clients. The leadership is focused on success for its clients as well as for Navigant and employees.

Navigant uses a "sink or swim" philosophy in career growth (assigned to lead or work on projects that you have no background in). The corporate culture is siloed and different by practices and people do not feel appreciated by upper management. There are few opportunities for career movement between practices.

Navigant is a place to make long lasting relationships. The culture lends to a friendly and fun environment. Some of my best times occurred on projects with NCI.

The company has some great advisory practices in select sectors such as Energy, Healthcare etc. It is a small enough firm from a headcount perspective that provides access to top level client executives from an early stage in your career. Colleagues were friendly and helpful. Work was challenging and many times it focused on leading edge trends in the sectors of focus. Lots of internal training opportunities as well.
Pros
Ability to develop sector expertise, nice work environment with a relatively flat org structure
Cons
Constant need to be billable, too many short projects at times

Navigant is a typical consulting company - focused on the bottom line and not its employees. Get ready for a ton of travel to client sites. The engagements are interesting and challenging, but the deadlines are difficult to meet.
Pros
Interesting clientele
Cons
Travel, leadership culture

If there is enough work and projects, you will be covered. Otherwise, your job will not be as secure. Management does a good job in trying to staff junior people, however as you get more senior you are on your own.

This was the best consulting firm I worked for. The rest of it is not necessary to mention here. I am trying to make it to hundred fifty characters to pass this phase

Productive and fun workplace with ping pong table, other games, comradery etc. Navigant is a very good company to work for. Promotions may be very slow and employee training could also be improved.
Pros
Very good company to work for.
Cons
Promotions could take a long time.

I stayed at this job for 12 years. I would go back there if asked. This is a smaller consulting firm but has great benefits. It has a nice clean environment to work in.

Fragmented practices, every group doing their own thing
Demanding work/life balance in face of uncertain/ill timed engagements

Getting buisness in is the only way to move up.

Doesn't have strong mentor/mentee program, doesn't value periodic training/feedback as it should.

Management acquires foreign companies, they fail to produce. Stock price falls, so staff gets laid off.
The people on my team are all stellar. It's been a real honor. All around bright, supportive and great people, and we are all looking to leave.
Pros
Work from anywhere
Cons
Zero strategic planning from corporate

Navigant is what you make of it. If you are in a strong performing group and produce results you will be rewarded. However, this comes at the cost of work/life balance.

Staff are generally competent and friendly. Good Work/life balance. Benefits are OK but compensation is not impressive. Cross practice cooperation is minimum and culture/value is not unified. It's a good place to start career.
