Employee

I really enjoy working at highfield house In Heywood some people who are new to the care industry might not be aware of how Tough the job can be sometimes but don’t let that put you off!! I have done lots of training whilst being here and completed a NVQ. I cannot fault the management and the training you get put through as it’s all very relevant and if needed more or extra training can be done upon request. The manager does her best to put you on shifts that suit around you the hours are reasonable and the dedication that’s put in shows throughout highfield house, The home is well presented and everyone works great as a team, like any job in care you hear terrible stories but these are usually from ex staff that didn’t work to the best of their ability or didn’t turn up for shifts and action has to be taken to keep the home up with the good reputation that we have all worked so hard for. I’m excited to progress here and carry on ensuring the service users needs are all met to the highest of standards 😃

Great for experience

I would recommend to anyone to work to gather some experience in care for a few weeks/months other then that not somewhere you would like to stay long-term

Enjoyable work place with high standards of work

Good place to work under good management. Lots of opportunities to work new skills. Paid breaks, free lunches provided. Work includes care of vulnerable people often in vegetative state. Might be depressing and physically and psychologically exhausting at the times.

Pros

free lunches, free shuttle bus that takes workers uphill to the care home

Cons

stressful and lots of responsibilities

nice environment at times

learnt a lot here some examples include: -Tracheostomy care and about what a tracheostomy does and the different types. - Ventilators that help keep patients alive. - P.E.G. care and the different types and what they are used for. - Fire safety. and many more in house training that can be provided if needed. work with a strong team at the moment but because of the high turn over who knows when the team will be changed again? Hardest part of the job is keeping up with the pressures the management force upon us as employees, but the most enjoyable part of the job is getting to know new people and having the feeling you have done something good and positive for the 12 hour shift.

Pros

free lunch during day shift, coffeé and tea along with bread and milk provided 24/7

Cons

Long hours, Poor communication between all staff especially Management.

enjoyed working there until change of management

Highfield was agood place to work. Both staff and residents were friendly and amiable. Most of my qualificatons were gained while employed here. I enjoyed feeling I had made a difference in clients lives for the better. The hardest part of the job was when I worked my last shift.
