a good place to work in, sometimes stressful but manageable. we dealt with different guest from different parts of the country. through working at the hotel, I have learned and gained a lot of experience, starting from housekeeping as a cleaner to being a linen room attendant and to front office from potter to receptionist. management was supportive of the growth, the only thing they were behind with was communication there and there, the most enjoyable part of the job was the different challenges you get each day and how we dealt with them
free lunch and free laundry for uniforms
8 hours a day
Unfortunately I am not feeling well about Hilton Hotel Durban since I was unfairly dismissed because of telling management about my feelings , from the way they treated staff
Hilton was my best working experience ever, The team is united and always had your back. Management always motivated and pushed staff to do better. Hilton has its own university that is online and they constantly require you to do various online hospitality courses to keep up with trends and policy. I would go back to Hilton any time.
i wish they can improove by lookingafter the staff.it was a nice enviroment to work in.the staff is nice the management not realy nice but not bad also.
Employees are treated unfairly. For the same error done by an individual they don't treat it the same. Favouritism is very high. The time to start work is very clear and considered but the finishing time management don't care about it. No matter how much of a hard worker you are, you don't get acknowledgement from anyone. Putting the guest needs first is never a priority or rather it depends who's doing it. I put all and I mean all of my hard work but I still believe I was treated unfairly compared to others.
No overtime pay. People are treated unfairly.

Typical day-waking up early in the morning, cleaning 14 rooms, being called back to sort out som issues, going home late, no linen to make beds Learned-We all start somewhere at the bottom regardless of what diploma you obtained, no matter how small the salary is but it is better than nothing, you not going to always get what you want or the job you studied for, life is a journey , make use and excell in what you do and respect your and others and remember take your job seriously , other people are observing. Never give up or think little of your self or compare your life to others. Management- Very supportive, always believed in me, assisted and disciplined at the same. treated everyone fairly Hardest part - earning little , not even enough for transport. Enjoyable part- Having and being surounded by managers that fair at all times, always open for new ideas , gave a chance to grow

i liked both places , i never had a bad experince with management neither the co-workers . i learnt a lot - how to deal with a difficult customers , thrilling service and how to handle the floor. the hardest part is to deal with difficult customers.what i liked about it is to work with people , i love working with people.
Hilton yes free lunch
sibaya yes long hours
The overall experience was amazing as i got to practice my time management skills and i learnt what the industry is all about but most importantly i got to practice how to work with the different characters of customers as well as workers and it all worked out to be a phenomenon experience, even though it was hard to perform supervisors duties as i was not used to them i ended up completing my work in record time. What i enjoyed the most was the feeling of being in the work place after such a long time of seating in the desk, and also being able to see the happy reactions that that the customers had after being satisfied with the product sold to them.
no transportation fee
When I was still a trainee and I had an argument with the chef. I've learned that no matter how nice you can be or try to be , not everyone will like you at work. Excellent management from the GM down to Supervisors. Wonderful team members who are always willing to help and learn and we're currently cross training in order to grow more. When I had to meet my deadline in such little time and pressure is very high but I manage to pull it off. The most enjoyable part is when I manage to finish all my creditors and await them for loading on bank prior to month end
Long hours on month end and working on weekends
A typical day at work: It was very busy, but it was good to be at work. What you have learned: That my team members are the greatest asset to the business Management: The old management encourage change and they had the bottom up approach, which made an immense difference to the way managment look at the running of the business. Your co-workers: Our team member were amazing. We were like one big family. We all pulled together when it was needed. There was a very low turnover of staff. The hardest part of the job: The lack of honesty with the new management who came on board, which broad conflict when issues were confronted. The most enjoyable part of the job: Meeting our guests and team members needs and they were happy at the end of the day. That was the most fulfilling part of my job

great working environment, especially for students, who need experience in retail. great team members to work with. Very supportive team that are genuinely concerned about your growth and experience in the retail industry. most enjoyable part of working at Hilton was the management, you were made to feel welcomed and treasured
Its a great place to work at management always willing to assist and acknowledge staff. We have special days to acknowledge all departments. Its entertaining and some times stressful to work here, but no difference to any other major company. Room for growth and prosperity.

Guest is always right.
Management needs to be fair towards all team members and be more productive and also work closely with team members. At the time working at the Hilton I've learned alot and also discovered the potential I had to make guest return on a regular basis.I applied all the standards to meet the needs of guest and also exceeded guest exspectations which got me great reviews and feedback from guest
