IBM CIC in Baton Rouge, LA lacks direction. Too many people hired too soon out of college and paid below market value for a consultant. Was told 50% travel and you’re expected to say yes when asked to travel 100% to client sites. Many experienced employees when openly say the only way to advance is to leave and go back.
Pros
Reward travel with airlines/hotels
Cons
Never home/pay below market value

Job security is kind of tough when you can’t get on projects. Being on the bench to long will result in being terminated. Sometimes you even have to find projects yourself.
Cons
Pay

IBM will cheer you on, bolster you up, enable you, and equip you to grow and soar at your career path of choice. IBM truly supports the 'growth mindset', here you are given countless resources, training and hands-on learning such as shadowing roles. Truly a 5 out of 5 company!
Pros
Work life balance
Cons
You must apply for projects, so it cant be helped that you may feel unemployed at times.

The CbD program was well planned out and allowed for us to really get into meaningful work right out of university. Improvements could be made in placing consultants on projects that are appropriate for them considering experience and education.

Your experience will depend on how determined you are to succeed. Other than that, it will depend on who your overseeing manager is. I don't think my manager even knew my name as I only spoke to this person 3 times during my time there. This person didnt even respond to my emails. Also, they managed to misspell my name on my desk. You can say it was downhill since day 1.

There was high turnover in management. Nobody seemed to want to relocate to Baton Rouge As a Delivery Manager, it was hard to source local talent to fill demand. Great co-workers!

At an IBM CIC you'll typically work on contracted assignments. You'll spend about a month on the bench not working and perhaps training. Management can range from extremely helpful to distant and difficult to reach. The main goal is to have you on a project, they'll guide you in training if you don't already have some experience which is great. I am not personally into 100% travel and some of these projects are that. Though, I've found it difficult at times to work remotely depending on time zones. They will not switch projects for most reasons aside from health. They will encourage advancement if they see you're doing well and will give you a small raise. You will not be encouraged to specialize in any tech stacks and need to be flexible. This can be a pro or a con depending on your goals.
Pros
Great entry level experience, so much free training, advances based on skill
Cons
Healthcare is mediocore, can be too much travel, below mediocore pay starting

My initial thought was that IBM was a great company. Things have changed over the past year. You have to find a project in order to actually do some work which is absurd. The management forces you to get on a project that doesn’t fit your skill set or that you don’t have interested in. You are expected to work 50 to 60 hours a week if you’re on a project and you don’t get compensated for working over 40 hours a week. It’s just way more negatives than positives. I wouldn’t recommend IBM to anyone.

This is a great place to work and learn. You can work on different projects and different industries. You have a lot of training either in class or self-paced. The vacation is not bad and some work from home time. But the benefit and compensation are not really competitive in today's market.

IBM used to be about mainframes. Cloud is a natural evolution for mainframes. IBM also was big on research .These two critical competencies are helping IBM re-purpose the enterprise to a cloud based conglomerate.

Great corporation to build career. Be willing to travel and understand that the pace is very high and will require more as you advance. The culture is collaborative and professional. The most enjoyable aspect is the connections and work you are performing. The hardest aspect was the increase amount of travel
