Kalafong hospital was a very good place for me. My x colleges was friendly and kind to our patients. So I will love to be part of them again. My experience with them was overwhelming because they took their job very serious and they tought me to see things differently. I loved my job.

A typical day at work would be meeting deadlines, I have learned that working together brings out good results. Our management team make sure we have what we need in order to get the job done, I have very professional co-workers and I always learn a lot from them. The best part of this job is working with numbers.
no free lunches
I resume work at 8am I Perform administrative and office support activities for multiple sisters in charge and matron. Duties may include fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, word processing, creating spreadsheets and presentations, and filing. Extensive software skills are required, as well as abilities and strong communication skills. Communicate with patients and visitors employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information, take orders and address complaints. Answer telephones, direct calls and take messages. Compile, copy, sort, and file records of office activities, patients files, and other activities.Complete the history background of a patient. Operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems and personal computers. Dealing with a patient who is in denial of his/her status and does not adhere to treatment which leads to viral load increasing and Cd 4 count decreasing that's very traumatic giving back to the community it makes me feel fulfilled
it was a great environment to work at and i had a good work relationship with all my colleques and my operational manager. The only problem I had was with management most of them didnt show respect for us and for us young ones the was no room for advancement. Wen my unit manager was on leave or sick she always left her duties with me and I learnd a lot from the managerial role. The hardest part was that we were so short staffed that some fridays u will end up workign alone as you maybe two and the other one had to escort a patient at weskoppies, and which is vry risky in a psychiatric unit and management will tell you that its not a hectic ward. Like this other day we were only two with an auxiliary nurseand we had 3 very pschotic patients and 1 very ill patients who had to be taken to casualty for an emergency admission at neuro and as a sister I have to be with him in casualty and also had to stabilize the other 3 and had to b incharge of other chores so it was very hectic. Nevertheless I really enjoyed being part of that team and working in that ward, also because I love challenges.
It was really a different view and a chance to learn and understand how to make orders how to follow up on them each day and one of my main challenges was to receive wrong orders and sign for it because at the end of the day I was held accountable for it and what I mostly enjoyed is working with friendly colleagues and we also managed to accomplish our goal each day as it came
fair amount of tea time and lunch and there we're no free lunches
fair amount of work which is 8 hours a day Monday to Friday
