Good company, reliable
HR (Former Employee) - Various - 5 December 2023
Reliable and good to work for. Not the best but they did strive to take care of employees generally. Pay was competitive and benefits were worth it.

Good company… questionable work conditions and little work/life balance
CDL Class A Driver (Current Employee) - Lockbourne, OH - 4 December 2023
McLane is a good company. But whether it’s a good place to work is a different story and matter of opinion. Unless you’re a senior guy..If you like working nights, unpredictable schedules, nearly impossible time/work quota demands, physical labor in the rain or snow, no sleep and no family time plus more then McLane is the place for you!… Not Me! Management is cool though and the pay is good.

Used to be a great place to work
Truck Driver Class A (Current Employee) - Virginia - 4 December 2023
Alot of changes happening in the business model. Biggest is shift from hourly pay to a component/ formula pay. Change of management hasn't impressed.

It’s okay
Selector 2 (Former Employee) - Brookhaven, MS - 3 December 2023
A lot of work with the longest hours. You really just throw candy in a tote and push it off on the line. It’s cool on a good day but if one of the lines break down you’ll be in there all day

Before 2022
Driver (Current Employee) - Fredericksburg, VA - 3 December 2023
When I first started this was the place to be. But that was over 10 years ago. Here in 2023 I wouldn't come here. They are laying ppl off before Christmas. Firing ppl. They won't tell us what our pay is because we use to get paid by the hour now They want to go formula.

Highly stressful environment! No training but expect perfection
Driver Manager (Former Employee) - Fort Worth, TX - 1 December 2023
This company was the most stressful company I ever worked for! They tell you that drivers are important however they treat them like workhorses no matter how badly the freight was loaded the drivers were forced to make on time deliveries and unload the truck. As a dispatcher I was forced to tell the drivers to basically deal with it and do your job. Management was a joke while I was there I went thru 3 managers. They promise to train you with their systems however that never happens. I was called in to the regional manager and basically belittled because I didn’t know how to use the system without any training. What I learned was thru trial and error and the help of other people who worked there. This was the worst job I have ever had!
Pros
Good pay and benefits
Cons
Horrible management, No employee retention always a job listed on line for this position

Good pay. Bad management
Delivery Truck Driver (Current Employee) - Longmont, CO - 30 November 2023
If you're willing to give up personal time/life, you can make great money working for this company. Management needs work. Does not hear out drivers. Dispatch will throw you under the bus to save themselves, Management will listen to then over drivers.
Pros
Pay
Cons
Management. Dispatch.

Great Company to work for
Selector/Picker (Former Employee) - Denver, CO - 27 November 2023
Definitely tough work but the pay incentive was good and everyone there was great for the most part. I only left because of how fatlr I had to drive. When it snowed, I was lucky to get 5 hrs of sleep and that made the job harder. I would recommend this company.

Productive and positive atmosphere
Driver (Former Employee) - Orlando, FL - 27 November 2023
One of the biggest differences between a trucking job and an office or factory job is the ability to be more independent in your work. Though you still report to leaders and get assigned to loads, there is less of that feeling of a boss looking over your shoulder and telling you what to do.

East job if u know what u are doing
Order Selector (Former Employee) - Danville, IL - 27 November 2023
Safety first really than accountability to see if everybody is at work and will do the job. What I believe about this job is if you have the right people training you you can do the job great I have no questions about management. The word culture could be more respectful and thoughtful because you don’t know what happens behind closed doors in peoples life

Very physical and long days
Driver (Former Employee) - Georgia - 27 November 2023
Very demanding work early morning leave times you will unload product off truck 6 to 7 stops per day staying over night using hand trucks up and down ramps

Its okay
Selector (Current Employee) - Athens, GA - 26 November 2023
You can’t really plan to do anything after work because you never know when you’ll finish. Either there’s no trucks or not enough people. And eventually waking up early and getting out late will catch up.

Very very toxic
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Hebron, KY - 26 November 2023
This was the 2nd worst job I’ve ever had. I became a driver thru the grow your own program. I was forced to work my off days. Schedule changes at the last minute. Work life balance was basically a 0. If they don’t like you or you’re not 1 of their favorites they will target you and write you up for dumb reasons. 1 of the highest turn over rates I’ve ever seen for a company. More than half of the management team don’t even have Cdls and like to show you drive cams and tell you how you should be driving. A lot of bullies work at this company. Had coworkers cussing me and also threaten to beat me up. I didn’t even like half the people I worked with. There is also coworkers that will act nice to your face and then talk bad about you behind your back. A lot of two faced people work here. Very very toxic work environment. They only good things about this place are pay and benefits.
Pros
Good pay and good benefits
Cons
Poor management, rude customers, bullies, and no work life balance.

It was pretty good to me
CDL Class A Driver (Current Employee) - Contoocook, NH - 25 November 2023
Over all it ain’t the worst place to work. They really taught me how to drive that’s for sure. It can definitely be hard work but if you’re ready and willing you can make good money.

Long hours, quotas are not logical
Forklift Operator/Order Selector (Former Employee) - Fredericksburg, VA - 24 November 2023
You have a start time but no finish even though it says your shift is 8-10 hours. The quotas they place for pickers and other workers on machinery is not logical or sustainable over the long hours you work every day. Theres no empathy to the shift you work and having a personal life or health issues. If you dont have vacation, nothing is excused as far absences. No holidays off and most times you work weekends or 6 days a week. No way or real incentive to move up within the company.
