Productive but very stressful

Manager puts too much pressure but productivity is there. You have to be really passionate about sales otherwise the job will not be for you. Also be able to work well under pressure

Stressful

Long hours, a lot of pressure from management. Work overtime including weekends, the pay is okay but not nearly worth the mental toll it takes on you. I was miserable all the time

Personal Financial Advice- Financial Advisor

Commission-only remuneration after the first six months. Employee benefits only after three months, such as vacation or sick time accrual, pension, medical aid. Half of the medical aid chosen is paid by the company for the first two years. Flexible time is an illusion. Time management is very important. Having a strong social currency will be helpful for those first time in this role as there is a specific target market this division aims for. No leads are given here, you need to generate your own leads and create your own client base. This role also requires client servicing, it's not just selling insurance products. You gained tons of financial knowledge on insurance and investment products. You work on targets that increase on a monthly basis. Your earnings are scaled in the first two years. This can be disappointing make sure you understand how the remuneration structure so you don't get surprised on payday. A car is essential for this position.

Pros

First attemept for RE5 paid for (but you need to work here for certain time frame 1st)

Cons

Earnings scaled and capped.

Productive, fast paced and fun environment

Fast paced environment and stressful working environment. Targets are set for you and you have to meet them. Job is commission based so you get what you put in. Management is very supportive and ensure that you are successful, they also have incentives that motivate you to achieve targets required.

Stressful work but very flexible hours

Salary is good for first two to three months but you work hard for it. It is very difficult to sign up new clients each day which is your main job, and meeting daily targets is a tough one.

Can be very stressful

Pressurized environment, you have to be thick-skinned. It’s always about sales and getting clients to take out policies…. But great employee benefits, events and year end trips

Too many sales calls

They offer a lot of training and a lot of support but still the targets are too high, for you to make a reasonable commission you must work late almost everyday day

Work from home

The company does not have a very good culture, management was not willing to adapt to changes, the set targets are impossible to reach, and growth is limited

Pros

Work anytime, anywhere

Cons

Commission based

A professional work place

Working at old mutual has been very exciting, the team is united and management very hands-on. Getting to deal with so many different people on a daily basis, teaches you more and more about people skills and how to interact with them in a way that is in alignment with Old Mutuals principles.

You Get Paid For What You Worked For

I worked as financial advisor and first 6 months you get a stipend as you are working and attending training where you learn how to market your clients in the financial environment.

Pros

Flexible working time Free airtime to call clients Manager always available for queries

Cons

Working under pressure Reaching target Looking for clients

Stressful and uncertainty

This is the worst job to find yourself at after you graduated. The nature of the job sucks, very demanding and long hours of work. Pay is not guaranteed.
