The management needs to motivate the workers not push on targets only without checking on them are they coping or not. Yes the business its about target and all but some months are not the same when it comes to business.
Yes there were free lunches when you perform well.
Long hours was a big problem rep up meetings and yiu need to go to taxi rank it was quite risky.
Stressful work environment, unrealistic targets to meet production, unprofessional management depression cause by high targets of production If you are a lady will expirience miscarriage, you will not have time for your family ,you can't sleep without meeting the targets of 3clients per day who take a policy. You will dig a grave for yourself if you be working as financial advisorEven if you meet your targets you will not be appreciated or rewarded
You manage your time
Self driven and self motivated. More about life cover and investments. Management would create an efficient working atmosphere and obtain willing cooperation in getting the job done by adjusting one's style on the twin dimensions of task and relationship behavior. The workplace culture was more of a team effort and helping each other. The hardest part of the job was getting people to sign-up and the most enjoyable part of the job was the hours.
Knock off early on Fridays, subject to target reached.

Acquired communication skills through my experience and social involvement. Work with our supervision as well as under pressure. Computer skills Microsoft office, Outlook, Sap and Microsoft PowerPoint. Good oral and written communication. I have learnt to work well with people from various cultures, norms and values. Planning, organising,. control and time keeping. Office administration- filing, diary telephone management, good client/customer orientation.
Work on weekends
Working at old mutual was the best opportunity for me to be introduced into the wolrd of markieting and sales. Having studies sport management with marketing in it I have gained a lot of useful information about the industry. I have learned how to keep it coll and calm under unforeseen circumstances. It is a stressfulo job but once you get used to it and have strageies on how to tackle your day it becomes more fun joyful.
Too much expectations on sales
It's a nice environment Stressing sales You need to make sure you are good and tolerant of rude clients and management, racism is too much need be careful if you are black

It takes time to get permanent
Typical day at work is going through emails. What i have learned is to check if clients details are correct & that feedback needs to be provided weekly. Management was great. The workplace culture is diverse. The hardest part is keeping the finacial advisors clients happy with old mutuals slow staff
I enjoyed working at Old Mutual a lot. The environment was very relaxed yet fast paced as well. Teamwork was great and management very involved and helpful. The only problem is that most positions are contract positions and becoming permanent is not easy.
Old Mutual was by far the best companies to work for. The amazing support from management the enormous love from fellow colleagues made the environment so pleasant that one would never even feel they are at work.

Old Mutual is what you would expect from a large corporation. Good management structures in place and have been for a long time. At times it may become to feel as if you're just another number and it can be tricky to work your way up to higher positions as the senior staff members have been around for a long time

Many objective and little time to achieve. Precise planning required each day. A collaborate effectively with other staff/ departments. learning experiences about the pension fund act and the financial sector. Learnt about the new policies such as Money laundering, TCF and PPI. Management are always looking to safe cost and practice LEAN principles and exercise authority when required. The culture is generally a productive, fun and self management culture. The hard part of the job is to perform multiple tasks of other ex-employees without extra remuneration. The best part of the job is to work hard, catch up with your work and to be rewarded with a nomination and cash incentives.
