One of the top Property Companies in South Africa, very competitive, high standards and strict business work ethic. Very stressful, high maintenance position. Long hours and constant deadlines to be met. Time management is crucial in order to accomplish what needs to be done each day. You need to be able to multi task and work independently. No room for error and you need to be able to work with a range of different people and be able to deal with different personalities (some not so nice.) Loved working with my fellow employees and we had the most amazing work bond. Means a lot when you get on so well with you fellow employees and everything runs smoothly within the office.
You get to meet people from all walks of life.
You are literally on call 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. It's not a job but a life style.
A typical day at work starts with canvasing for new stock (Properties to list) followed by client relations, its a self management job that requires lots of self discipline as well as loads of patience. the hardest part of the Job is doing all the work and not being paid at the end of the month. most enjoyable is the big paydays you get when a property is sold, however it is also a very demotivated job and extremely hard to do.
Potential for big money
no guarantee for salary
Typical work day started at 8:30 until 13:00 - listing previous day buyers and sellers, listing new properties on website, preparing advertising for magazines/internet/website, canvassing new sellers and booking appointments for sole mandate presentations. I have learned to read people through communication and to prepare the best advertising ad. Hardest part of the job is canvassing for new sellers and the most enjoyable is listing new properties onto the website.
I work at Pam Golding as a house sitter during show-days. My responsibilities are greeting the clients at the door, showing them around and collecting information on what they are looking for Th most enjoyable part is meeting and connecting with the clients and hopefully being apart of the process to help them find their dream homes

The team and company is a great place to work and ability to have a work life balance. The rewards are great but it is tough working on commission basis and supporting a family as the financial security is not there
Independence and financial rewards
Commission structure and late nights
One of the biggest things i have learned and obtained is people skills. How to communicate, to present myself, to listen and observe not just to the every day client but to the co-workers as well. Every day is a well planned day and professionalism is the key word on everybody's lips. I have enjoyed to work with people as well as the balance of office work and on the street with clients
A typical day at work a relaxed environment but also very strict management. I learnt a lot of computer skills that I didn't know. Everyone in the office were very friendly and very helpful. There wasn't anything challenging with this job, I enjoyed the experience.
Working in my current position is fast paced with every day being different. The team that I work with is more like a family than colleagues as we all know each other very well and it is a small office. The work that I do is very rewarding as I support all of the agents and enjoy seeing them succeed with their sales as agents need to succeed for the company to continue. The shareholders of this small branch are wonderful people to work for as we all work together as equals and all share in the rewards.
Good working envirnoment, sharing in company benefits.
Small business and thus am responsible for may functions, and thus very hard to have time off due to responsibilites.
Wonderful company to work for. Unfortunately I developed an allergy and had to resign because of ill health at the time and my work was of such a nature that I could not go away because payments had to be done. The better option for the company was to resign.
Everyday duty of switchboard operating, answering calls and emails of client queries. Learnt a lot about people management and interacting with walk in clients to make them feel welcome. Worked with wonderful, genuine and hardworking people. Toughest part of the job is having to deal with frustrated clients and trying to convince them that they need not worry as they are in the good hands of an established company. Most enjoyable part of the job was meeting a great group of people and working for a very established company with good workplace morals and values
It is a very relaxed working place which requires you to be work effective and know the deadlines because you work at your own pace with no guidance. The co-workers are lovely people to work with and the Manager as well.
Relaxed working environemnt
Working Saturdays and holidays
My Boss and my co-workers were very nice people to work with, everyday was a happy day. We all worked well together, we had lots of fun aswell as workerd very hard to achieve our goals and was motivated by each employee. We had meetings every Monday morning where we discussed our work done for the week with Management. I had a wonderful time working with new people everyday. The Boss was a very understanding person but also very strict in what he expected from me. The hardest part of the day was going home. I really enjoyed my job. I was sent on multiple courses to help me with all my sales skills, which I enjoyed very much.
Free Lunches and braais sometimes.
Long hours, and Sundays
The industry is fast paced and always changing. The company I work with is great as it provides training to assist agents to excel at their job and to keep up to date with market trends The hardest part of the job is the lack of financial security as you are never guaranteed a monthly salary and some months you go without any income The job has taught me how to deal with different types of clients as well as how to use my selling skills to obtain mandates or close deals The best part of the job is when you sign a mandate or hand over the keys to your client who purchased a property
No financial security
