Hard work with long hours
Employee (Former Employee) - Cape Town, Western Cape - 5 May 2022
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedGreat place to learn, but it is a very tough environment. Work is everything and family life normally suffers. If you need a fast paced environment where you need to think n your feet, this can be for your. It can be very stressful at times with very long hours. Career opportunities are available if you want to stay in retail.

Productive and fun place
cashier and packer (Former Employee) - Cape Town, Western Cape - 24 May 2022
I worked as Packer mostly, I used to pack for a Cashier when its done scanning items and put all the items in the Bag for a Customer...When it's not busy, I used to go work on the floor and do back shopping, which is to replanish back the stock that the customer left by the tills and put it back in the right place...Also and to make sure every aisle is full of Stock with the right Price ticket.

LIV Clerk (Logistics Inventory Clerk) (Former Employee) - Cape Town, Western Cape - 20 March 2022
Working there was amazing and the workload was stressful but I enjoyed the challenge. My colleagues was also amazing, just some colleagues was more motivating than others, especially those that want to see you succeed, towards others that don't. Overall, experience was amazing

No room for growth
Baker (Current Employee) - Cape Town, Western Cape - 5 March 2022
The company has kept me going so far but you live from hand to mouth... Hours is horrible and they pay you way too little for the amount of effort you put in. I'm still a casual after 8 years of my life and there's hardly any room for growth. People leave and doesn't get replaced. People I trained got promoted. It's not about loving your job at the company anymore
Pros
Subsidised lunch
Cons
Long hours and no room to grow

It's a very good retail store to work for overall
shop assistant cashier (Former Employee) - Cape Town, Western Cape - 25 February 2021
Pick n Pay is a very good company to work for. They look after their staff by supplying free meals and transport especially when working late shifts. I think that their pay rate is fair for retail as well as their working hours/shifts. They also offer various benefits. Pick n Pay has a good friendly working atmosphere
Pros
Staff meals, benefits, fair salary, nice work environment, staff transport
Cons
Long hours
