My current role with Pick n Pay focuses on delivering enterprise wide IT solutions for all supply chain initiatives within the group. My core function is to align business strategy, IT programs and roadmaps with both long term and tactical goals. Key responsibilities include managing resources, workstreams, budgets (Capex and Opex) and deliverables using both Agile & Waterfall methodologies.
It was a fun working environment and waking up in the morning to go to work was pleasant and i learned alot in terms of working with a store that has a large customer base
Pick n pay is a nice place to work but the hours are mainly the issue. One can gain a lot of experience in the various departments if you!able to work there
Respond to emails daily , resolving the queries on a certain period, and strictly abide to a payment period. Learnt that hard work pays off eventually . Co-workers are fun pople to work with as we are in blocks. Hardest part of the job , getting all queries sorted out in one day. Most enjoyable part - is that the deadline is achievable
Certian staff specials
Long hours without pay
I have grown significantly within the company in the last few years with Pick n Pay. The knowledge and experience i gained was incredible .
I start off my morning going though Adverts and pricing for the opposition online and compare this to what my company also has advertised. I liase with the necessary buyer if there is any corcerns i have to raise with regard to this. I also get weekly and monthly price checks for key lines within our business which i also compare and analyse against Pick n Pay. I get on very well with both management and collegues, no matter what the situation i realise that we all are here for the same reason, that is to do a job and strive to perform it to the best of our ability, therefore personal differences have to be pushed aside and the job must go on. the hardest part of the job i would say is to try and change customers price perception of Pick n Pay, the market or opposition have become extremely aggressive and striving to get customers to shop at Pick n Pay has become a huge challenge. I enjoy having an influence in the business by analyszing and recommending what customers want from a range point and from a price point, and driving the buyer to get the better cost in order to extend that deal to the customer in the end. Happy and satisfied customers equals higher turnover.
Subsidised lunches, good medical scheme and monthly contribution plan
