Hard work with long hours
Employee (Former Employee) - Cape Town, Western Cape - 5 May 2022
Great place to learn, but it is a very tough environment. Work is everything and family life normally suffers. If you need a fast paced environment where you need to think n your feet, this can be for your. It can be very stressful at times with very long hours. Career opportunities are available if you want to stay in retail.

No room for growth
Baker (Current Employee) - Cape Town, Western Cape - 5 March 2022
The company has kept me going so far but you live from hand to mouth... Hours is horrible and they pay you way too little for the amount of effort you put in. I'm still a casual after 8 years of my life and there's hardly any room for growth. People leave and doesn't get replaced. People I trained got promoted. It's not about loving your job at the company anymore
Pros
Subsidised lunch
Cons
Long hours and no room to grow

The experience is determined by the manager. If they are good then your experience will be great if not count on dreading going to work.
Cashier/Sales Assistant (Former Employee) - Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal - 30 January 2022
In general, I appreciated the experience. The company is reputable and quality and great service is a high priority. I had a particularly bad experience, having worked overtime but I would usually only be paid for half of it. Then there was the matter of nepotism. When it came to selecting supervisors the proper channels weren't followed. Then again it wasn't the company's fault. But growth is possible when hard work is recognised for it's owner rather than passed off as someone else's.
Pros
Free lunch, reputable company
Cons
Incompetence by store manager

Great place to work at , fun and productive
Baker (Former Employee) - Gardens, Western Cape - 20 October 2021
Awkward and very long hours, hardly get weekends off. Management is always putting pressure on staff and would not embrace the company's values. There is so much room for growth and opportunities are always there. Employees are like family embracing the company's culture and showing empathy when serving customers everyday.
