Unfair

My experience was horrible, we work so hard, low salary, the hotel is run by fear and is biased and racist. I hope with new management this will change

Job culture was great.

Working was a dream come true seeing different people every day from all walks of life and the pay wasn't bad but the tops was the icing on the top to say.

Is Indeed your favorite place to learn about companies?

Learning experience

Wonderful company to work and gain five star experience in hospitality. Loved the staff that I worked with and systems that was in placed. Learned a lot from each department that I had to work in. Learned a lot about what kind of manager I am in the industry and what I want to become when I go on with this career.

Pros

Free meals

Cons

Must work over time at times

Toxic environment

Unprofessional management. You ONLY get promoted if you say yes boss for everything and not on your performance. If you liked then you will be promoted. Communication is one way ONLY .No respect for employees. No positive recognition to employees who do well.Ultra Toxic environment..

Pros

Free meals that are not 5 star quality.

Cons

Very long hours

Widely rated as the best hotel in Durban, South Africa

I was privileged to work under the name of Red Carnations Group. The public are enthralled by the level of service and the food they are presented. A typical day was to start a shift prepping for service, making bread and finishing off what the previous shift was unable to complete. Greatest benefit was to learn how a commercial kitchen is run. Fellow workers were great. All worked hard to provide good service. Hardest part of the job was not getting enough time off for family. The most enjoyable part of the job was having this hotel name displayed on my c.v.

Pros

Experience

Cons

long hours, limited breaks, not enough time for family

Really good facilities but not so great management

The property has people that are eager to teach you and has a very good working environment in terms of the equipment. There are minor hiccups when it come to management like know who to please at that time but it comes better with time

It is more fun to work here you get trainings for free just to enhance your career. And also outsourced training to better your working and lifestyle.

It is safe to work here and I did benefit from working here. 6 years I have worked was not in vein. I've had my own ideas wanted to share with my managers that could make the hotel even lucrative, but on the other hand couldn't resist working on board and experience the world and it's hospitality.

Pros

Free Breakfast Lunch Dinner and Snacks after on.

Cons

From 9 hours to Maximum of 16 hours

simplicity at its best

a day at oyster box hotel is like a day at home. everyone is friendly and the job is not demanding even when it is, you don't feel the pressure. From my experience at the oyster box hotel I can say that nothing is hard you just have to put your mind to it and do your best. The management is very good, especially in the pastry kitchen .whenever work is in progress ,you would think we playing games to show how much we enjoy what we doing. The co-workers are very friendly and motivational, in a way that they don't criticise you for not knowing something, but instead help you out.I would say the hardest part about the job is waking up in the morning but either than that its just smooth sailing.

Pros

good work flow and good teamwork

Cons

long hours
