Plant lot of technical skills on the job and enjoyed problem-solving which was a major part of my daily duties I also had to teach and train apprentices assist with coaching at site and advising the Client on what best suits their needs
Managing a maintenance contract originally with 100 employees consisting of Artisans, Assistants, Stores Clerks, Data Clerks and other Admin employees. Providing a service to a client with a mandate to provide maximum possible equipment availability for mining operations of which the benchmark is 85% equipment availability. Safety at the work place is a priority! The hardest part is answering to the client's senior management when an incident occurs be it a near miss, a slip and fall incident or an actual injury. The most enjoyable part is being commended for enabling the client to achieve and sometimes exceed their pruduction calls. Typically my day involves among other things Financial Management, Invoicing, Human Resource Management, Maintenance Management, Planning, Inventory Management, Monthly Performance Presentations, Training Management, Safety Management Systems ie OHSAS 18001, 14001, 9001.

daily tasks are timeous based, mantainence, breakdowns and safety is priority so that require a higher sense of discipline in the workplace .teamwork also plays a huge role as our machines requires different artisans(electricians, mechanics, technicians) to work together inorder to reach daily goals
underground enviroment - no lunches
I enjoyed all of the lessons the company gave us. Most lessons we learnt were about safety and how to conduct ourselves in the working environment. The management team were hands on with the workers and could react immediately to the workers grievances and come up with suitable solutions. Communication between workers was effective and solid, team work was in sync with productivity. Enjoyable parts of the job was collecting rods and jumpers at the blast area after a blast and doing general housekeeping.
learning courses, sponsored clothing.

Sandvik mining and Construction is a Good company with people that are very good at their jobs and have good managing and leadership skills, My colleagues taught me a lot about Finance department. The hardest part of the Job is to have to deal with difficult clients who do not want to understand that nothing is personal you are only doing your Job and what is expected of you.

As a creature of habit, I enjoyed the 'safe' environment Sandvik provided for me. I enjoyed working with helpful, friendly and easy-going co-workers from all nationalities and learned a lot from them and also from my Site Manager that was my immediate boss at the time. The hardest part of the job was feeling isolated from our head office and therefore not really part of the bigger organization. (We were situated 68kms away from head office in Boksburg on a mining site.) The most enjoyable part was knowing what is expected of me, accomplishing my goals every week and the amazing co-workers I was surrounded by every day.
Easy going, professional working environment, easy hours
If you work away from HQ, on site, it can get lonely
