Productive place.
Architect Intern (Former Employee) - Germantown, MD - 7 September 2017
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIt was hard to balance this job with school. I learned Microstation here at Stantec. I also learned more about floor plans. I also got involved with projects associated with Pepco.

Stantec is an amazing company to work for. They do what is right and give back to the community. Good benefits and compensation as well.

corporate
Technician (Former Employee) - Alaska - 17 November 2023
Stantec company motto is "we do what is right." What they don't say is they do what is in the best interest of Stantec and to heck with the employees and communities they work in.

Boring work
Civil Engineering Intern (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 16 November 2023
Coworkers are friendly, but lot of bureaucracy in management. The overall experience left me feeling drained. It's a decent stepping stone to finding a position with better work-life balance.

Could be better
Graduate Civil Engineer (Former Employee) - Falmer, East Sussex - 2 November 2023
As a graduate in a such a large company, I was more of a number than a contributor. There was hardly anything to do. I think management need to actually organise ang allocate proper work to graduates.

Pros

Cons
ne sont pas ouverts de conserver leurs employés s'ils décident de quitter le pays

Good WLB, But Cheap
Integrity Engineer (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 1 November 2023
Good: banking time and can be used for paid vacation later, Variety of projects that you can be exposed to if you'd like Bad: not really many good things - salary is very low compared to market, favouritism is very common, subjective performance review, etc

Really fulfilling experience with Stantec. Genuinely felt looked after and supported.
NSW GROUP MANAGER (Former Employee) - NSW - 25 October 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Great people, supportive management, terrific spread of projects. Pays well and very supportive of staff at all levels. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Consulting is always stressful from time to time having to bid projects to keep the team busy. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The culture is very embracing and supportive. Even though many of the people have been there for a long time, they were very inclusive.

Not employee friendly
Project Accountant (Former Employee) - Pune, Maharashtra - 20 October 2023
Not at all employee friendly management as far as financial shared service is concerned, micro management is initiated treating employees as robots, rules like school are being imposed like permission to leave even after working hours are completed, no flexibility for work is provided, harsh and unprofessional language used by managers in one to one meetings, even though all of the company works on hybrid model only finance department works from office and does not allow work from home at all, no company transportation is provided either, company policies are not followed by finance shared services, leave practices not properly defined and not transparent as leave approvals are given verbally and deliberately too much time is taken for approvals, discussion on personal reason for leave needed of employee takes place , team meetings do not take place and no forum present for employees to raise their concerns. No work ethics followed.Hourly work progress is tracked. It seems like the management does not care about it's employees at all.

Great place to develop
Engineering Intern (Former Employee) - Markham, ON - 6 October 2023
Good place to learn and develop my skillset. Management was great and very relaxed, but also wanted us to perform at our very best. Work can be repetitive and dull at times but it was a great place to learn!

Depends what area you work in.
Human Resources Coordinator (Current Employee) - Remote - 2 October 2023
Operations jobs - lots of work/projects. great for new grads in eng, architecture. Will learn a lot. Billable, must meet utilization goals. Encourage innovation. Corporate jobs are seen as overhead therefore less valuable. HR has group think. Everyone has to agree with leadership and their way of thinking to get ahead. No innovation here. Basically do your job, collect a pay check.
Pros
Remote work, good people
Cons
Nothing moves fast. Lots of red tape. No trust displayed. Not transparent.

Not recommended for engineers early in their career
Graduate Structural Engineer (Former Employee) - Oxford, Oxfordshire - 26 September 2023
A bit disappointed that Stantec values weren’t reflected during the time I have worked for this particular team and office. Inadequate training and high expectations over meeting deadlines for junior employees in the structures team, so there is no work life balance. Management are reluctant to spend money on their employees and are not willing to be progressive. Due to their backwards thinking, they think it’s okay to be rude and disrespectful to junior employees to get the job done. Inclusion is an unfamiliar concept for the team and is not a priority as upper management are not keen to spend money and resources for this.
Pros
Variety of projects available, ability to work in different offices
Cons
Not a supportive environment for junior structural engineers and messy management

Fun place
Civil Engineer (Current Employee) - Cleveland, OH - 21 September 2023
Great people and leadership but can be hard to find work in the office. Seems like they are over hiring and don't have enough jobs to assign to all. Otherwise it is good.

Last place I would ever work - the worst of big consulting and the most expensive to clients.
Senior Electrical Engineer (Former Employee) - Hamilton, ON - 20 September 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? There was no best part about working at Stantec - even the best parts were just tolerable. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Corporate downsizing getting rid of busy people; constant mistakes - both accidental and deliberate - by accounting, payroll, and human resources; lack of corporate security (data breach) ; history of breaking labour laws in Canada. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Hostile. Unwelcoming to new people.
