Productive and fun company with lots of competition

Telkom is a company that everyone would wish to work for. The only disadvantage is the job security because it has many competitors it's hard for them to keep all the jobs safe.But the overall is perfect with nice benefits as well

Productive, problem solving, independence, team work, collaboration, customer care, target driven, selling and rewards

Excellent company to work for. Offers the Best employee benefits and rewards. You know what your responsibilities and targets are from day one. Depending on the position you have applied for, you will get in-house training by either attending an in-house course from the Telkom College or by shadowing someone in your department. Do now fear that when you get employed you won't know how to do the job. Be prepared to collaborate with your team and other divisions either on daily or weekly. Be willing to be a productive and responsible member of team Telkom. No matter what position you're in, the following skills will improve - team work, problem solving, becoming target driven, being able to work independently and more.The company rewards great perfomance on quarterly with monetary incentives and annually by sharing profits with its employees.

Not very open to change

Very old school in their way of thinking. Not very progressive. Long hours. The department i worked in (underground cables) provided lots of challenges, like working in confined spaces and heights

Enjoying the compilation in installations on a monthly basis between friends

I enjoyed and was extremely motivated in becoming no1 in my region which was known as the Southern Region... I truly enjoyed traveling to different parts of South Africa and out performing technicians in there own area. I received many 1 price nominations for years..

Good place to start career, I enjoyed my 12 years experience in the power maintenance field. Flexible with work and responsibilities. Descent leave days.

Stressful and unfair treatment from management

Expect anything from management, you could be implicated in false accusations just to make a way to get rid of you. I will never recommend Telkom to family and friends or anyone for that matter.

Fun

I was a talent contractor for their esports division and Telkom management generally has a pretty good handle on what's going on.They sorted my flights and accommodation for all contractors that were working that gig.

I would not recommend anyone to work for Telkom as their salary are not as good . The work invorment is the worst as they down grade you and manipulate you.

Highly stressful environment

Irate customers daily and a lack of management support from both stores ive worked for. Managers are quick to delegate but when there is a serious issue they refuse to face the customer. Customers will often go months without issues being resolved and they will take it out on you in store.

Management don't have forward thinking. Only care about performance bonuses for non performance.

No training for staff in ever changing technology, instead only supervisors and management and expect junior staff to automatically apply without formal training

Corruption is rife, as most of top management are having sub companies, milking Telkom to their advantage

Room for growth

Good environment to work, nice benefits and alot of room for growth. I enjoyed the work space and overall enjoyed waking up in the morning to go to work. Managers are okay, besides the favouritism and pressure. Work load can become a little stressful so there were opportunities for paid overtime on weekends.

Depending on the bussiness unit you work for

Always professional and dedicated collueges supporting each other in team work. I was fortunate to have different weekly shifts which gave me opportunities in working with overseas colluegues as well. It was inspiring working on an international platform.

Excellent working experience for twelve years.

Telkom require people with strategic thinking ability. People that can take responsibility and who strive to add value and make a difference. People that continuously strive to make things better, with the focus on process improvements and to reduce costs. People that continuously research what the world telecommunication trends are, in order to create a better working environment.

Very dry and unpleasant work Experience

Working at Telkom made me realize, That you have to make any situation the best. Because the people are the worst types you get. Two faced and just a bunch of spineless people who suck up to Management to bring others down. So if you get a job there. Stick to yourself and remember, no one is your friend. They will stab you in the back to get ahead.
