Stressful and Toxic work environment
Professional Nurse (Current Employee) - Johannesburg, Gauteng - 29 February 2020
As a nurse you work up to 14 hour shift, but get paid for 12. The hospital is painfully overcrowded. The staff are tired, overworked, and rude. Waiting times are a nightmare.

Hospital Junior Chef (Former Employee) - Tembisa, Gauteng - 1 October 2019
It was a learning curve to work there .The areas were different from my usual work place . I have learnt to respect other people ,the kitchen and all the other areas of the hospitality industry . The hardest part of my job was seeing the patients .I enjoyed seeing the patients happy because of the hospitality provided to them

Chief Optometrist Supervisor (Former Employee) - Tembisa, Gauteng - 16 September 2018
general hospital, learned how to deliver with limited resources, management is supportive. Workplace is hectic and one need to be ready to work an extra mile. Hardest part is siiting with a proposal which cannot be funded because Government has no money. Nicest part is being able to go on marternity leave for 4 months

Apart from overcrowding, it is a hospital that is recommended well by the community.
Registered Nurse (Current Employee) - Olifantsfontein, Gauteng - 15 February 2018
Reduce overcrowding. Come up with a plan of preventing long stay of patients in the hospital. Short staff is also one of the problems facing nurses in the institution, which lead them to burnout and absentieesm. Insentives would also be appreciated for those going extra mile to improve working conditions, or those who meet their target times. Medication and equipment should be available at all times to deliver quality nursing care. Good, safe environment for patients and multi disciplinery team. Doctors to be available at all times in case of emergency.
Pros
Free tea or coffee for staff during tea time.
Cons
Long working hours, preferable 8hrs a day in 4 days a week, and one half day.

Intresting work place
Administration Clerk (Former Employee) - Tembisa, Gauteng - 14 October 2016
Meeting new people everyday and helping severely injured patients. Working in casualty requires focus since most patients arrive in a very bad state, others being in resuscitation or sometimes even DOAs,this position in that kind of work environment does not require a squeamish person since in that department there is lot of blood especially on holidays.
Pros
Great meals
Cons
extremely busy

i'm still volunteering so my typical day at work is very busy and challenging because im learning new things everyday. ive learned to work with people how to communicate well with people because we work with them everyday. the managemen is good because they very patient and well spoken, my workers are fun to work with they are very helpful and we always work as team. the hardest part of the job is when you cant meet the deadlines of the clients because of the pile of work we have with not much resources to use but the most enjoyable part is that we have new challenges everyday and we work with people everyday which is exciting.
