Great place to work if you do not have a life outside of your career
Environmental Scientist (Former Employee) - Germantown, MD - 4 December 2021
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI truly believe that your experience at Tetra Tech is dependent on your office. My office was pretty terrible at balancing work/life and had poor management who did not look out for their employees. They were only concerned with the bottom line, and had no regard for the career goals of their lower level employees and field crew. I often times would be in the field working long hours (10-12 hours, 5 days a week) and on top of that would consistently get emails asking for reports and other office type work to be completed. There was definitely the expectation to write reports in the evenings after a long day of field work. I would get calls and emails at all hours of the day and was extremely stressed the majority of my time working there. The company as a whole is great however. There are great benefits, tons of leave and salary was comparable. It truly just depends on your office and operating unit. I had a horrible office and was extremely stressed, under appreciated and was not able to achieve the goals I wanted to in my career. Thank goodness I had a lot of leave because I needed it in order to keep my sanity! I had to use my personal things A LOT for work. My cellphone was constantly used for emails, documents etc. for work while I was in the field. Which was frustrating given that Tetra Tech is an international company and other offices had company cell phones given to their employees. So once again it truly depends on your office, but beware when applying! Ask very specific questions about your job duties and hold them to it. They will send you where ever they need -
Pros
Great benefits, leave, salary etc. Very professional
Cons
Very long hours, horrible work/life balance, poor management

Great reputation in other specialty fields - not Emergency Management
Emergency Management Specialist (Former Employee) - Maitland, FL - 1 December 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Benefits are great. Especially being able to purchase stock. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Non- existent leadership. Lack of feedback. Low experience level in emergency management. Seriously clueless. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? I was 100% remote. Never able to access the Managers. What is a typical day like for you at the company? There were times I never heard from anyone. Just trusted to complete task assigned.

You can grow as designer , manager and learn lots of new things .
Electrical Engineer (Senior Construction Inspector) (Former Employee) - Kabul - 20 November 2023
When you work with Tetra Tech, you will grow and learn more in your position or field. Tetra Tech has the best management system I have ever seen in my work life. The hardest part of a job is to achieve the goal and do more investigation/analysis before sending out the report. You never feel alone since working in a friendly environment in the Tetra Tech family, you can ask or inquire at any time.
Pros
Free lunch, Per Diem, Travel Expenses other benifits deponding on assignment
Cons
Nothing observed

Old school company

Old school company, mandated RTO, low pay, high work load, no office benefits. Come into the office to work behind a screen, Teams meeting. no workplace culture.

One of the worst places I've worked
Engineer (Former Employee) - Pickering, ON - 5 November 2023
Management here was in shambles. This was during the pandemic, and the amount of work expectations exploded. Minimum 60+ hours a week, no work-life balance, expected to be available at all times, and rush to complete impossible deadline. It was a nightmare

Don't follow own instructions
Monitor (Former Employee) - Florida - 2 November 2023
Will train you then tell you to let things go that are absolutely not in the guidelines. They don't have connection to communities they work so no respect for local environments being destroyed by their contractors.

Boring, poor management, lack of communication
Architectural Designer (Former Employee) - Detroit, MI - 29 October 2023
I worked there for a year and I did not like working there. Manager wasn’t managing junior staff properly and was showing favorite. Senior staff was not welcoming. The gap between senior and junior was visible in their lack of communication . Work life balance was not good.

hostile environment & poor compensation
Architectural Designer (Former Employee) - Newark, DE - 24 October 2023
Hands down the worst job I’ve had in my 19 years working, although I had the opportunity to work on some interesting things. I was treated and paid poorly.

Great place to start.
Field Inspector/Mechanical Engineer (Former Employee) - San Juan, PR - 22 October 2023
Great place to work and start your career. Work is dependent on contract you are working on. Management was very good and organized only downside is that work is dependent on the contract that you are working on and when it ends your position can be at risk.
Pros
Great employees and fantastic place to learn
Cons
Contracts and work can end.

Good place to start
Environmental Scientist (Former Employee) - Rancho Cordova, CA - 19 October 2023
Not a bad job to get your career started, but hard to grow and move anywhere within the company. Do not expect big raises. A lot of great people working there

Great temp job
Team Lead (Former Employee) - Paradise, CA - 15 October 2023
Great job in the field helping rebuild after a disaster. Pay not great in most states but worth it if in CA. Management was pretty fair, although you are pushed to work through breaks to accomplish as much work in as little time as possible. All done for “the families affected by the disaster” of course.

Outils de gestion
Project Manager (Current Employee) - Montréal, QC - 15 October 2023
Peu d’outils de gestion de disponibles pour aider à faire son travail. Le project manager n’est pas assez appuyer et il doit se débrouiller seul. Peu de ressources de disponible et trop de projets pour la capacité

Does not care for employees
Underwriter (Former Employee) - Maitland, FL - 13 October 2023
Tetra Tech has shown zero loyalty or appreciation for their employees, especially the employees who are supposed to be “full time”. All of upper management is unethical and HR is there to cover their tracks. Would not recommend, they will withhold your pay raise and will keep the employees that are cheaper for them to keep other than the ones who have made the the most money. Major ethics issue with this company

Unfair
Supervisor (Former Employee) - Remote - 28 September 2023
Does not give you notice before terminating you. Also promotions are not based off of the great work you do it’s based off who you know. They don’t care how long you’ve been there

Great Pay and Supportive Team
QA Inspector (Former Employee) - Eielson AFB, AK - 14 September 2023
I was lucky to be given the opportunity to work here for the summer of 2023. The pay was very good compared to what I was used to, and the whole Eielson teams were great folks and very supportive of me with my limited experience.
