Reviews about Pay & Benefits for Graphic Designer at THE PRINT SHOP

Great job with so much to learn about

It's a great business to work for just not many hours because printing is a dying g trade. The pay is good when theres work and the flexible schedule is great for a main job. Hours are always in the evenings when needed.

So-called management is ran by a pathetic excuse for business owners, and I wouldn't trust them to run a child's lemonade stand.

They tout themselves as a family-owned "Christian" organization, yet proceed to talk negatively about anyone who comes through the door that doesn't go to church with them. Countless racist remarks were made, not to mention making fun of poor/under-educated individuals and their hygiene - I suppose an effort on their behalf to make themselves feel better about their lack of human decency. It's an incredibly toxic environment where you will constantly feel underpaid and undervalued. If this is what it means to be a Christian- count me out. The bills are rarely paid to vendors, so if you choose to work here be prepared to get an ear-full from customers tired of waiting for their items nearly every week. The company that owns the printers will often "cut them off" due to non-payment of bills, so while you may have an order ready on Monday to print, it may not print until the following Monday because they are out of paper/toner and management has to "move money around" or literally go to Office Depot for supplies to complete the job. My last two weeks as an employee (in the winter) the heat wasn't on because the bill was that far behind, so we were advised to dress warmly. The company responsible for providing toiletries even cut them off... so they ran out of toilet paper. Yes, even toilet paper is a hard bill for them to pay. I have an extensive background in the printing industry, but I have never once felt so taken advantage of in a position. The level of hate I developed for this job was unfathomable, and frankly it felt like taking 15 steps backwards in my career. -

Pros

Bonding with other employees over the lack of sense from management, going home, weekends

Cons

Zero benefits, low pay, ignorant "leadership", five days total of PTO (sick AND vacation - after a year), unrealistic expectations, management's lack of knowledge, office gossip, dirty work environment, slow network
