Productive and fun place to work at

The culture is nice, workplace is relaxed and new skills are taught. The people are relaxed and patient as they teach you about the corporate world. The lunches there are great too.

Great environment for growing skillset.

There was ample opportunity to learn new skills and broaden experience at Transnet Freight Rail. The skills learned, as planning, working with other departments to execute a plan, are lifeskills. The TFR college did well to train and test employees to realize optimal performance and knowledge of the work environment.

Things move very slowly and very bureaucratic

It is a good company to work as job security is very high but if you are an ambitious person, career growth can be very stagnant. Innovation and new ways of doing things are not greatly appreciated.

Pros

High job security and competitive entry level salary

Cons

Mostly shift work and career stagnation

Good company to work for.

The company is struggling at the moment with the wave of cable thefts and destruction of it's infrastructure. There is a big push to fix the inherent problems.

Production targets are discussed every day in the Morning including the assigning of the job cards.

Working at transnet at was a fun workplace with lots of challenges of working with old people who are resilient to change but because of the work ethics you needed some times to be hash on them a bit so that you can get what was expected for a day.

Pros

We never had any Free lunch.

Cons

Over time was given provided that there were lots of backlog that needed to be closed.

Great opportunity to gain experience and grow within the company.

A typical day at work: starts of with morning team meetings which covers daily objectives, safety, progress etc.what you learned: I learnt a lot and gained valuable experience in my field. also attended training programs to broaden my skill sets.Workplace culture: the culture is based on hard work, safety, respect and being reliable. The hardest part of the job: working outdoors can pose difficulties. The most enjoyable part of the job: working on new projects and gaining new skills.

Pros

Training and development, excellent staff facilitates: Gym, library. new projects

Stressful

The company advertises one’s position when one is still employed in the same role. One would have to reapply for their position and be interviewed whilst in the job already. People act in roles for over two years

Pros

Competent remuneration

Cons

Politicised environment

Management bullying

Management at Transnet are way too bullying in a way that you cant raise your word to them. They are not ashamed to tell you how muxh they fire employees foe no reasin. They always make sure they are best friends to their seniors so thar one you report their bad doings they y know they are covered. They don't do their work than shifting blame to orhers. I have experienced that from 4 different managers i worked with.

Most employees living transnet are not checked what is the reason of resignation mostly is depression.

To work at Transnet was so stressful, especially there was no communication, no job security, bullying, there is a gap between juniors and managers although you are all working into same company
