Good
Train Driver (Former Employee) - Johannesburg, Gauteng - 25 September 2019
Transnet is a great company to work for, we work long hours and shifts but the salary is good. Safety is a priority. Work culture is strict. Chances for advancement not so much especially if you are in my field. You get enough time to rest.

Plea for second chance
Resigned Female Train Driver (Former Employee) - Kimberley (Beaconsfield) - 10 December 2012
I was a female Train Driver in Beaconsfied Kimberley, a very hard working person who was a single parent for 2 kids and a bread winner. I had to take an extra mile for relieving on heavy loads trains in Postmasburg to make sure that my company reach the highest monthly production target. One of the bad days I passed the red signal and it was my first offense. On the day of the case the presiding officer placed 2 letters on the table, he said I must choose between the two, He said the other one is Demotion with grade and salary Plus 12 months final written warning and the other one is Dismissal. I was very confused not knowing the right or wrong. My Union representative signed for demotion and ordered me to sign. I was under stress and anxiety treatment. I couldn't think properly then I signed for demotion. A month after demotion I realized that the Train Assistant salary was very little for me, I couldn't afford to pay my son's university fees and accomodation and my mom was having high blood and diabetes her hospital bills were going very high, then I decided to resign because my salary was very little as a single parent. My other colleague blew red was given 12 months but during that period he passed the red signal but he was only charged 14 days unpaid and his job was still safe. A lady passed red signal and derailed the train and she also had 14 days unpaid. The white man was off the train as it was standing on a down gradiant the train run by itself passed 6 red signals but he's job is still safe That train had to be stopped by the Area Manager by removing the telemeter -
