Working at the University of Venda was rewarding and fulfilling considering it my first work in the tertiary industry. I learnt a lot during the process, mostly I learnt to make presentation, preparations and time management skills. Additionally, I learnt how to motivate students to work to their fullest potential. I also acquired management skills which enable me to multitask in a productive way. The work environment was conducive and provided a platform for me to do my best in terms of furthering my studies, assist others to achieve their dreams. The hardest part of the job was to get students to co-operate when they didn't want to write a test and practise a lot of absentism.
Pros
short hours during normal working days
Cons
Long hours during examine hours

A typical day comprised research, teaching and review of research work. I learned to conduct research and review research projects. Management demonstrated professionalism which created a sense of achievement among employees. The hardest part of the job was obtaining funding for planned programmes. It was good to practice autonomy in the execution of planned tasks.
