Challenging yet stimulating
Educator (Former Employee) - Cape Town, Western Cape - 2 February 2022
Being part of the education team, which is managed extremely well, collaboration is the key to success. The pace is really fast but with great team work comes amazing results and satisfaction. This company is for you if you: 1) strive in a fast-paced work environment 2) love collaboration 3) are open to learning new skills outside of your scope 4) have a passion for technology and innovation 5) have the discipline to work remotely or hybrid 6) don't take things too personally and love a corporate work environment 7) can handle constant change
Pros
Hard work does not go unnoticed
Cons
Fast-paced and lack of company transparency and uncertainty

Fast Paced and Stressful with Unrealistic targets set
Student Assistant (Former Employee) - Cape Town, Western Cape - 24 August 2021
My time at Shaw Academy started off really well. But then things started to change at a quick pace, we were told we had to make certain call and sales targets that were incredibly unrealistic within our "9 hour shift" . Many times I would find myself working without taking any lunches or breaks just to make reach my target set by the Managers and CEO. I would also find myself leaving work an hour or two late at times and then having to find my own way home at 8-9pm. AND LORD HELP YOU if you want to take a Public Holiday off. Even though you do not get double pay or Public Holiday pay.
Pros
None
Cons
Long Hours, Managers who think they are above you, No work-life balance

Money, growth and pressure
Sales Consultant (Current Employee) - Cape Town, Western Cape - 24 April 2021
My experience at Shaw had been positive for the most of it. It is a fast pace ever changing company that requires you to give your all and can be stressful but you get paid according to your job difficulty so that's good. Growth has been crazy good. I have seen people promoted about 7 times in the last 7 months all based on how hard you work. Management is hard core but understanding and fair. Over all its a great place to grow fast if you have the right mindset and work ethic. And we get to study for free too so that's nice. Many make it past contract stage but those who don't make it end up a abit angry as it's more for those whit postive mindset rather than those who are not really into sales
Pros
High basic, growth, training and job satisfaction
Cons
Long hours, not for newbies

from the best job ever to the worst
Sales Team Leader (Former Employee) - Cape Town, Western Cape - 9 April 2021
was great in the beginning and they pay was good and targets where reasonable. but after a few months wit the constant changes the targets become stupid and you had to work 12-14hours a day to reach the target. you ca forget about commission aswell. thay are also are planning to sell the company in a few years so no hopes of having a career so dont think you will eventually get promoted after giving your all
Pros
Basic use to be 12500
Cons
everything else pretty much

Worst mistake of my life
Manager (Former Employee) - Cape Town, Western Cape - 19 March 2021
Poor management every day your job is threatened. The target is absolutely ridiculous. No one achieves it and constant warnings are issued unethical and illigal. You can sign up to 7 warnings in 1 week. Staff are abused emotionally and verbally on a regular basis. All in the name of earning a comfortable basic not worth it don't do it.
Pros
Good basic
Cons
Long hours

No work - life balance
Sales Manager (Current Employee) - Cape Town, Western Cape - 9 March 2021
Not really a normal shifted job. You need to work about 16 hours a day to meet operational required targets. VERY draining and unethical culture. No values.
Pros
Salary
Cons
unethical management

Horrid workplace.
Sales Consultant (Former Employee) - Cape Town, Western Cape - 27 January 2021
Absolutely horrible workplace. There is no formal training. We sat around for 7+ working days just revising a script but were expected to make sales as soon as we hit the floor. Management is horrud, couldn't care about your life. Absolutely no regard for COVID protocols, positive cases are swept under the rug. Unattainable KPIs which we then got told was as a result of our "laziness." Unstable environment as a whole. Would definitely not recommend.
Pros
Good salary
Cons
Everything else

Stressful and No Job security
Student Guidance Manager (Former Employee) - Cape Town, Western Cape - 23 October 2020
The worst Job I have ever experienced. The management is pathetic. No job security and absolutely no support from management. You have to work outside your hours of work to reach their insane targets every single day and then you dont even get paid over time. And to top it all off you work extremely hard and when it comes to get paid your commission you have to fight to get paid that commission. What you will also be doing to the students is unethical and immoral. I dont suggest anyone coming to work for this company. They will not acknowledge you and they will treat you extremely badly. There is no pros working for this company at all. The basic salary is high but you are selling your soul for that basic.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Long Hours, Scamming students

Productive and positive place to build a good start to your career
Sales Success Manager (Current Employee) - Cape Town, Western Cape - 9 April 2020
I had a very good experience working at Shaw Academy, considering this was my first job. The work environment was very positive and highly motivating. The initial training provided was very useful to build a successful start. Along with work, a lot of fun activities were organised for the employees.
