Full job description
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy duties with accuracy and professionalism.
- Assist doctors with clinical procedures, ensuring efficiency and patient comfort.
- Conduct diagnostic assessments including ECG, LBC's, running drip lines, stress tests, and lung function evaluations.
- Provide holistic patient management, delivering compassionate and comprehensive care.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment used for phlebotomy, ensuring compliance and readiness.
- Monitor and manage stock levels for phlebotomy supplies to support uninterrupted service delivery.
- Safeguard patient and client confidentiality at all times.
- Complete and maintain temperature logs, decontamination logs, and ensure proper disposal of medical waste (needles, swabs, etc.) in line with protocols.
- Accurately complete all relevant documentation.
- Handle cash transactions and billing reconciliations with accountability and precision.
- Actively follow up and chase laboratory results to ensure timely reporting to patients and doctors.
Qualifications
- Registered with SANC/HPCSA (valid for 2026).
- Diploma/Degree in Nursing or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Exceptional phlebotomy skills and demonstrated knowledge of intravenous therapy.
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills.
Experience
- 1–10 years of nursing experience in primary healthcare and phlebotomy.
- Experience in laboratory or healthcare environments advantageous.
