Medical Technologist

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine and urgent sample analyses in Clinical Pathology, ensuring accuracy and reliability in every result.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Support technical operations and contribute to a high-performance laboratory culture.
• Uphold strict quality control procedures and ensure all results meet regulatory standards.
• Process specimens with precision, ensuring each sample is handled with care and urgency.
• Provide technical support to colleagues and assist in mentoring junior staff.
• Collaborate with clinicians and laboratory teams to deliver timely and accurate diagnostic services.
• Maintain strong client relationships and provide professional support to healthcare providers.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and confidentiality requirements.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Medical Technology / BHSc MLS or equivalent qualification.
• HPCSA registration as a Biomedical Technologist (mandatory).
• Valid South African driver’s license (Code B) and reliable transport.

Experience

• 0–5 years of relevant experience in a pathology or clinical laboratory environment.
• Hands-on experience in Clinical Pathology advantageous.

• Clinical pathology processes and diagnostic procedures.
• Laboratory quality control and compliance standards.

Work Location

• Permanent position based in Shelly Beach, KwaZulu-Natal, 4265.
• 45 hours per week, 5-day work week.
