Full job description

A Foundry Storeman manages the receiving, storage, and issuance of raw materials, spares, and tools. In a foundry environment, this critical role also encompasses the upkeep, repair scheduling, and inventory control of the specialized machinery and hand tools required by the maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime.

Qualifications & Skills

· Minimum Grade 12.

· Forklift license and Valid Code 10 driver’s license

· Experience: 2–3+ years in a stores/warehouse role within a heavy manufacturing, engineering, or foundry setting. At least 2 years stores/warehouse experience, including specialised machinery, raw materials, consumables, diesel, stock takes, tool management, general tool maintenance and minor repairs, repairs scheduling.

· Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic maintenance tools and industrial spares.

· System Skills: Proficiency in computerized inventory management or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Sage) and basic MS Excel.

· Compliance: Strong understanding of general safety regulations (OSHA/local equivalent), proper lifting techniques, and material handling

· Computer knowledge: MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Email.

· Stores Administration, Stock Control, Stock Levels.

· Good communication skills and must be able to work as part of a team

· Works shifts 06H00 to 18H00, 18H00 to 06H00, four shifts on and two off

· Language Proficiency: Fluent in verbal and written English, with the ability to communicate fluently in at least one local language (e.g., isiZulu, Sesotho, or Afrikaans) to bridge communication gaps on the floor

Key Responsibilities & Duties

1. Tool & Equipment Management

  • Tool Control: Issue and receive specialized tools (e.g., grinders, welders, lifting equipment, pneumatic tools) using a strict sign-in/sign-out system.
  • Maintenance & Servicing: Coordinate routine inspections, calibration, and servicing of tools and machinery used by the maintenance team.
  • Asset Tracking: Maintain an updated, organized asset register for all portable electric, pneumatic, and heavy hand tools.
  • Repairs: Prepare and dispatch broken tools to suppliers or internal workshops for repair, and receive them back into inventory once operational.

2. Maintenance Inventory & Spare Parts

  • Stock Control: Monitor minimum/maximum stock levels of critical foundry spares, lubricants, bearings, and engineering consumables.
  • Requisitioning: Compile procurement requests for replacement parts, materials, and specialized maintenance tooling.
  • Goods Receiving: Verify all incoming deliveries against purchase orders, checking for quality, defects, and conformity certificates before storing.
  • Storage Optimization: Store spare parts correctly according to manufacturer guidelines, especially items sensitive to foundry environments (e.g., dust, high heat, and moisture).

3. Safety & Compliance

  • Hazardous Materials: Safely store and manage hazardous maintenance items (e.g., oils, solvents, chemicals) in compliance with foundry health and safety regulations.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, highly organized, and safe working environment within the central store and tool cribs

Pay: R10 000,00 - R12 000,00 per month
